The truth is that he was a little gassed and didn't have the energy to make an all-out assault in the last rounds.

Remember, Parker was totally gassed vs Takam and struggled with stamina against Ruiz. In this fight he was under more pressure, moved far more and had to keep throwing to keep Joshua off. His stamina was a lot improved but it was asking too much for him to have enough energy to go for the KO in the last rounds.

Joshua, by contrast, knew that he had had stamina problems vs Klitschko and Takam, and decided to conserve energy throughout the fight. He did nothing but jab in quite a few rounds. Parker actually landed more power punches according to Compubox. Thus when the final rounds came he was actually at least as fresh.

Don't, you have no reason to eat anything, Parker did a fine job, and got the shaft.

Don't feel bad for him. If he had shrunken under the event and gone down, and stayed down, from the first punch that landed.... if he hadn't given it a go, you could say that. But he did give it a go, and went out on his shield. Can't really fault the man for his effort tonight.

I thought Joshua won 8 Rounds
    to 4, I was impressed by Parker’s
jab and defense, but I felt that
    he didn’t accomplish as much
    offensively as he needed to.
    Joshua jabbed, pressured,
    and landed more (and heavier)
    punches.

Yeah he boxed the best I've seen him box tonight. Was great to see him knock Povetkin down as well. He's just a top guy and even though he was an enormous underdog it was a shame to see him lose.

What was Kevin Barrys plan? to train Parker go all out at the end? then why did that not happen? because he was gassed? did Barry not think about Joe gassing? so many questions. Not happy at all.

Yes, he came closer than most of us thought he could. He didn't waste as much energy as usual, but still his stamina let him down because round 4 was the time to take out Povetkin and he had no energy left.

The KO itself was brutal but Price's chin is not the best so that was always going to happen if Price didn't get rid of Povetkin first.

I'd like to see him fight some contenders and challenge again for the title next year.

I don't mind a softer touch first, then perhaps someone like Whyte or Breazeale, and then hopefully a final eliminator or title shot.

It's refreshing to think that in almost all of Price's losses he's at least knocked his opponent down, he went down fighting. People can initially fault his fighting heart if they want, but his actual in ring performances don't really show someone who's cowardly or of a weak disposition... He's just not exceptionally durable and very easy to hit. He's certainly not the first big guy I've ever seen get chinned in the sport. It happens up there.

Parker dominated the first half of the fight (very little action).

Joshua dominated the second half of the fight (very little action).

114-114 draw on my card. Razor close boring fight.

I think people just gave those early rounds to Joshua for no reason other than fandom and respect for supposed holy power. Parker threw a lot more punches and landed more in every first half round other than the 4th. Moving back the whole time? That dictated the action much more than Joshua's upright plodding for the whole first half. And he managed to punch him a whole lot more so that's no point of argument. Honestly baffled that you can have the fight even, let alone Joshua winning, after 6 rounds as many here did. As for the second half of the fight, Parker was totally gassed and his output dropped below Joshua's as he finally started to get hit clean.
