I agree that the media is trying to convince fans that the division is decent again, when in reality it isn't really. Maybe mildly interesting.

As always lack of depth in the HW division compared to any other division...it's always been like that and always will be.....except for a few highlights mostly dull exhausting yawn fests. There is always only a handful of guys that can compete against each other in any kind of meaningful way.

Give me two unknown Bantamweights any day of the week over almost any over hyped HW fight.

If Parker's feinting, handspeed and elusiveness can take away AJ's straight right and uppercut, can you imagine how successful a guy who's twice as fast and elusive as Parker will be?

I sort of agree with a good part of the article, although I think you were using a bit of hyperbole to make your point.

Nevertheless, that was a lot of fun to read - nice job!

I agree about the heavyweight division being a joke but not your assessments of these fighters. Tyson Fury is a fat bum. He isn't a good boxer at all. It does crack me up when people keep talking about how much skill he has because he ran from a timid 41 year old Wladmir Klitchko in the most boring heavyweight title fight ever. Tyson Fury has a poor chin. He was almost knocked out by blown up light punching Cruiserweight Steve Cunningham with one punch.

AJ won the "title" from a no talent bum in Charles Martin and did nothing but face 3rd tier fighters since. Takam was stopped early, Parker has did what in his career to make him special? Fighting guys like Eric Molina in championship bouts.

Deontay Wilder is the same way. 40 fighters and his best win came against a 40 plus year old, overweight Cuban with high blood pressure. Fighting washed up Chris Arrerola and Eric Molina in championship bouts and then taking forever to stop them proves nothing.

Ortiz was a good amatuer but proved nothing as a pro besides failed PED test.

As you said Alexander Povetkin is overrated and his power is overrated. The guys who he knocked out were all either bums or just had poor chins and he was on PEDs when he did it. Him knocking out glass chin David Price while almost being knocked out himself proves little.

Never gonna happen, but maybe a weight limit for heavyweights would make the division worth watching again. That would force lazy-ass talents like Fury to get in shape and stop the bodybuilders too - both types, in very different ways, are contributing to HWs becoming too big to box. This would make it more about skill too, rather than size. And if a boxer can't make weight... tough. Go do something else.

But I agree with the premise of this thread: the division has become a freak show and I can't see that changing...

CST80 would make a fantastic hater. I wonder how much he would charge Dino for lessons?

The division is at a low point. I predicted a post Wlad wasteland until the up and coming batch of contenders, which I view are good mature.

The division is a box of chocolates. Sometimes you'll get an epic KO ( Like Povetkin over Price ), other times a surprise like Wilder in many fights, and other times poop, like a highly anticipated title fight that turns out to be a dud.

If you want to see sprited matches between big men, watch the cruiserweights. They won't disappoint!

Marketing wise, having two of the top three guys in the USA and the UK helps. But after Wilder vs. Joshua, then what? Yep. A 2-year wait.

Its a good division and Joshua is great for the sport. A healthy division has rivalries; Joshua just took care of one which and will get to the another soon.

The front page all AJ-Parker, I'm burnt out on the fight already. Maybe cause I felt Parker deserved the W or at least a draw
