What does every lineal heavyweight champion from Sullivan to Fury have in common? None of them were truly one dimensional. Johansen is perhaps unique among them in this respect.
You are talking about the GOAT Ali? I do think it's obvious the fight was not on the level regardless. It STUNK.
Gerry Cooney isn't much more than one dimensional. He had a bit of a jab but he was 95% left hook. How do you think he would have went vs a Patterson instead of Holmes? Ingo is one of the weakest lineal belt borrowers in history.
I also regard Ingo as one of the weaker belt holders, but the fact that he did it pretty much on his right alone, makes me think that it was pretty darn good!
I think that Baer had a pretty good left as well. We would also probably say that his durability, reflexes, and athleticism were exceptional as well.
Well a lot more voted this best right hand in heavyweight history outside the top 30 than they did inside the top 10. Give that fat lady the microphone!
I don’t rate Ingo that high myself, I rate Sonny higher in fact, but to call Ingo a belt borrower is beyond the pale. Even if it all went pair shaped straight after, He still knocked flat both the worlds top contender and the worlds undisputed champion in back to back fights. Neither had been knocked out before. Ingo didn’t borrow anything. He earned that title and that rating about as emphatically as anyone ever has.
Well he lost it straight up back to Floyd who then re-inforced it again. Calling his right hand probably the best in heavyweight history goes thirty levels beyond pale. You got called on it and fell flat to say the least.
Exhibit A, Liston Machen. Exhibit B, Johansen Machen. I must emphasize that I see Listion as being by far the superior fighter, but how can you not be impressed by what Johansen did to Machen, after the fight that he gave Liston?
