Yeah big respect to Price he done well! That 1st shot Povetkin hit him with had Tyson written all over it and then the follow up was brutal.

Also it was the best fight of the night! All the other fights were zzzzzzzz

    Correct, Price is no Harrison.

Harrison won Olympic Gold, as a professional he won a European title and fought for a world title.

You ask people not to give Price abuse or mock him and make the point by laying in to Audley.

Price hasn't achieved what Harrison achieved and before you say "Price beat Harrison" yes he did, a Harrison that was already beaten 5 times.

I give respect to all fighters in the sense they are all brave and risk a lot but let's not pretend here, Price didn't take that fight for nothing, he didn't take it to entertain the fans and all that cobblers.

He is a prize fighter and he was paid well and if he won there was a good chance he would have got an AJ payday as he would have beaten Joshua's mandatory challenger.

this fight showed that Dave codwell is a trash trainer if he was with Matthews and fought like this he would have lost to hammer he should try and really build up with his new team beat some journeymen and go for a hammer rematch imo he could beat the european champion he didn't lose to another hammer he fought well against a top heavy that's in line for a title shot

The ropes kept povetkin up thus forcing foster to count as a knockdown . Bloody shame it came when and how it did because if big dave couldv closed the distance and followed up before foster got there he would of cleaned pov out

Foster obeyed the rules to the letter. Did price no favours in that situation however it can work in your favour if say you need a knockdown late on for a close points win If them ropes keep you up you are deemed down. I wish foster would of been a bit slower off the mark

The ropes kept Povetkin up which therefore required a standing count.Im not a fan of Foster but I wish those criticizing him at least knew the rules.

It's not as clear cut as that as if the fight was under WBA/WBO rules (and Foster is wearing the WBA patch) then the phrase used by the WBA is "hanging helplessly over the ropes". I have now watched the replay and Povetkin hits the corner and rope and is on is feet. If the bout was officiated under BBBoC rules then yes he should have been given the standing count.

    WBA:
    10. Downed Boxer. A boxer shall be considered "down" when, as a result of a legal blow, any part of his body, except his feet, makes contact with the floor of the ring, or when he hangs helplessly over the ropes.

    BBBoC:
3.32.1 In this Regulation 3.32, “down” shall mean one or more of the following:-
    (a) when a Boxer falls from the boxing ring beyond the ring apron as a result of a legitimate blow; or
    (b) when a Boxer is on one foot or both feet and at the same time any other part of his body is touching the floor of the boxing ring; or
    (c) when a Boxer is supported on the ropes of the boxing ring and, in the opinion of the Referee, is unable to defend himself; or
    (d) when a Boxer is in the act of rising

That fight pretty much saved the card from being entirely void of entertainment.
David gave it a good go, really wanted to win but just got caught with that right hand. Anytime he punches with a faster heavyweight he could be in trouble.
He should call it a day now imo.

Yeah I still think that was a terrible decision from foster. Reading the rules pow put up makes me think it was even more a terrible call. He wasn't exactly stuck on the ropes.

Think people don't quite understand that a povetkin win suited Eddie hearn more than a David price win. He would struggle to use price going forward....if he would have won it. No ones paying to see price v Joshua. They will pay to watch povetkin v Joshua tho.

Someone needs to start taking responsibility for these refs. Shocking stuff. Italian boy that can't talk English. And an English boy who,s inept. Surely theres better guys out there for the job.

Its like their being briefed beforehand. "Don't let them fight inside". That suits us cause parkers got the much shorter reach. Only the refs not smart enough to see Joshua was fine inside. Just funny that in a fight where one guy has a seven inch reach advantage...the referee that gets the gig suddenly hates inside fighting. I,d actually like to see if he hates inside fighting or just hated it for one night only. How hard is it to get a ref in there that doesn,t have some sort of agenda.

Povetkin stumbled backwards so far Foster really didn’t need to administer the count. They didn’t want Price winning. I’m glad he didn’t. Don’t want to see Price fight Joshua or Whyte or Wilder and so on. It’s hard to judge on slow motion but Foster doesn’t seem to have any desire to jump in when Price has his hands down absolutely defenceless. Surely we have better referees.

If Price did Knock out Povetkin and set up a big payday fight with Joshua i for one would be buying!

Imagine if he caught Povetkin in the middle of the ring and had a chance to pounce on him and finish him!

Would loved to of seen him and Joshua get it on...all the talk about how David floored him in sparring, the build up and fight would be so entertaining whilst it lasted!

But maybe im being biased as i well and truly cant stand Povetkin!

Hope he gets Whyte next. Whyte will finish the Russian for good.

    Couple of thoughts...

Did anyone see the video of Price on the mitts before the fight? I know mitts aren’t the best barometer, but wow did he look sharp and fundamentally very well put together. And the straight power shots were fast, clean and very heavy looking.

Also, the counter hook that he hurt Povetkin with was a very impressive and tricky shot to connect with. It also takes a lot of bravery to commit to that kind of approach, which for someone who is accused of freezing was another good sign.

The moment he had Povetkin hurt - had he been a bit quicker out of the gate on the follow up, I don’t think the ref would’ve jumped in to call the knockdown. On the slo mo replay you can see that price took a moment to process what was happening, and that’s when the ref jumped in. Had price immediately followed him back it could’ve been a different story...

Lastly, when watching he replay of the right hand that stunned him and led to the finisher - you may notice that he tried landing that same counter hook that he staggered povetkin with earlier...and came a whisker away from landing it.

Overall a good and brave performance. With some definite bright points of encouragement going forward...should he have the motivation to do so.

Respect to Price, I was behind him 100% but enough of the brutal knockout losses. I hate to say it but after that kind of head trauma (again) the guys going to be in a bad shape later in life. Good effort, lovely bloke but hang them up now.
