I like him too , i spoke to him once when Warrington fought Irish Hyland. He's a great guy and id much rather see him turn over more Douglas level guys on big undercards.

GGG ain't the machine he was a few years ago, but Spike is tailor made for him.

If GGG has truly slipped (and GGG would be the first to know) he will fight Cyborg eastern euro style and beat him on points 12-0

GGG looked older and slower to me with Canelo so I’m giving Spike the nod that he also will see the final round like Big Red.

Lemieux went two-thirds of the distance with Golovkin, and tasted canvas just once in the first 7 rounds, and is easier to hit than Spike, and Golovkin will be almost three years older than he was then.

Jesus, Spike walking forward into Golovkin? I admit, Gennady may look like he's sliding power and speed wise, but Canelo and Jacobs are hardly standing in front of him and I'd expect a man the decent wedge of a decade younger than him ( Canelo ) to make him appear slowed. But GGG couldn't ask for a better opponent style wise, and Spike is levels, not a level, levels, below GGG. If Eubank Jr can stop him I have zero doubt that GGG will. Picking an elusive boxer to go twelve with GGG at what will be 36? Yeah, I can see that. What I can't see is a come forward guy who's tactic is to hit and be hit coming anywhere near the bell, especially against someone of GGG's calibre. I give Spike no chance of seeing it through. GGG KO 7

You know I love Spike about as much as you do, but let's be honest here, Brook, Canelo and Jacobs are defensively gifted, and that is the only reason they either lasted as long as they did or survived. Golovkin still KO's the majority of the guys at Middleweight who are willing to stand and trade with him, and especially guys who eat clean shots like they're Whoppers. Spike is getting brutally KO'd if this fight goes through. The only Middleweights aside from Canelo and Jacobs that can go the distance with GGG is Saunders and maybe Derevyanchenko.

I don't think a fighter can get many knockdowns if he's controlling the distance for most of the fight. If the fighter Golovkin fights is someone who likes to go forward, and they hit hard enough. He's usually not trying to knock them down. The Stevens fight, for example, it went 8 rounds and only one knockdown as well.

    Is a poll really necessary?

Alright but then how do you explain the anomaly of Lemieux? He isn't slicker than Spike, isn't any more defensively oriented, and I don't even think his chin is better. Yet he went the majority of the distance and was only dropped once in the 7 complete rounds.

Exactly. Spike is just as much a come-forward guy and roughly as hard-hitting as Lemieux or Stevens.

If GGG's team choose this, the whole reason is to get a big KO to build the Canelo rematch or another big fight.
