Someone said AJ is the biggest draw in British boxing history because he`s broken records for the amount of fans that sit at ringside to see him fight but I have met people in Britain who don`t know who he is where as Bruno was known to everyoine in UK in his prime, I feel this is because Frank fought on ITV which was a free channel and people didn`t have to pay £19.00 to watch him fight, Frank got 12 million people watching him fight an aged shot fighter like Bugner back in `87 but AJ wouldn`t have got close to those figures fighting on PPV, which is why AJ didn`t win sports personal;ity of the year and wasn`t even third, Frank came second in `95 after winning the heavyweight title from McCall when it was shown on sky sports, can AJ really become a house hold name or is he already there?

You don't have to walk far in a city in the the UK, to see his picture in a Lucozade billboard or similar!

Yes I think that he can do very well financially!

I am British, but I live in New Taipei City in Taiwan. In the supermarket next door to my flat, this is the first thing you see when you walk through the door:

(don't really know how to link photos, but it's a standalone ten-foot AJ posterboard for Under Armor if u can't see it)

Joshua only came fourth in the vote for most popular British sport star? That’s hard to believe.Who were the 3 famous stars that beat him? Probably Lewis Hamilton and some soccer players?

Difficult to compare. We have social media following metrics now that didn't exist in Bruno's day so the best we can rely on is people alive during both eras saying this or that guys "seems thereabouts" more famous.

I wouldn’t pay much attention to that pole. BBC Sports Personality of the Year. It’s a biased poll with politically-driven agendas. One year an equestrian athlete won it because she is a member of the royal family. Juicesha will definitely win it one year but it will mean nothing. They didn’t even NOMINATE Frampton in the year that he beat Quigg and LSC.

AJ is becoming pretty well known, but in Bruno's heyday EVERYONE knew who he was. He was on adverts, chatshows, doing pantomimes, in comedy sketches, and you gotta remember when he was coming into the limelight this was in the days when there were only 4 terrestrial TV channels, so it would be almost impossible to avoid him and not know who he was.

These days, people who don't like sport can pretty much avoid knowing anything about boxing, so AJ can never be more famous than Bruno (in the UK), at best he can become as famous. But he's gonna need to make a lot of memorable defences over a fairly lengthy span for that to happen.

Totally different era in a lot of respect but Bruno was really the only box office UK heavy since Cooper (Whatever Haye says) And of course the Brits love a game loser. The mere fact he wobbled Tyson for half a second in 89 was enough to put him into mega superstar bracket and then he retired to panto for a while. Bruno could not walk down a street in the UK in the 80s. Joshua could walk plenty places and not be noticed. I well remember Bruno's 80s Spitting Image puppet was one of my faves.

Its all to do with social media (what ever that is)

Being lucky enough to be young during Brunos reign and young during AJs rein (this true you know) I remember Bruno was massive because people loved him they loved the man and they wanted him to win the world title . He was in the papers on the telly because he was a carachter that people loved Bruno was loved by non sports fans

AJ has achieved lots more than big Frank in the sport and he is reconised around the world for his achievements He is the real deal . I dont think he is reconised by non boxing fans or loved in the way Frank was

Then we have Lennox Lewis who acheived so much and a lot more than Bruno and was never really reconised outside of boxing
It would be safe to say that some love Adrley Harrison more than Lewis It is a sick country we live in

I’d say yes just purely down to social media. I weren’t old enough to know though to be sure.

Frank deserves huge credit though. He done it in an error without social media, without mobile phones even!

Aj hasn't got the lovable personality frank has/had so won't come across as well to such a broad uk audience...

But aj is in a different time with social media and such now, so it's more of a wide spread fame for aj than it was frank..

Frank had the love because he was a loveable character that every one liked and most wanted people wanted him to do well...

You know what I mean, 'arry.....

Id say he is a much bigger name than Bruno was/is. Well certainly bigger now, it is hard to compare back then to now. But I dont think I know a single person (in my demographic anyway) that has not heard of AJ. He is a huge name and prob the biggest in the UK just now.
