I suppose it depends how you quantify it...

If you're talking monetarily then AJ, in terms of pure viewing figures Bruno...but I doubt AJ could walk down any street without being harassed.

You could argue social media is an advantage, but back in the day whole families would crowd around the TV with only a few channels to choose from so you could argue high viewing figures were easier...but of course AJ would do huge numbers on terrestrial, just wouldn't make the same money.

the counter argument tho is that people have a lot more ways of viewing fights nowadays that are not monitored therefore not counted.

I think in general people are far more famous, accessible & recognised now by the masses due to social media and well just media in general now. I dont think its fair to measure such things nowadays.

Not even close to Bruno or Eubank. My mum and nan and aunties knew them as household figures and haven't heard of AJ.

Joshua has only really been a household name from just before wlad fight. He's still in the baby phase of national fame. Hard to judge.

Your mum, nan and Aunty lol whatever mate!

Are they Mormons?? or do they choose to not own a phone/tablet never watch the news, never read newspapers.

Bruno was a MASSIVE name.....AJ is bigger. These threads are getting ridiculous!

Its 2018..like its been pointed out there are so many more ways to watch boxing, so much more information avaliable now.

To say Bruno was a bigger name is just hating on Joshua.

Didn't actually realise how many Joshua haters there are on this forum, crazy!

Keep praying for his downfall...jealously is a female trait, learn to praise and respect.

Sky act as if AJ is the biggest and most well-known active sportsperson in the UK. I'd still say Mo Farah, Andy Murray, Wayne Rooney and Lewis Hamilton are more well-known at least. In fact, he may not even be the most well-known boxer. You could make cases for both Haye and Khan as being more known in the UK than AJ is.

But there is no doubt, at the end of AJ's career, as long as all goes to plan, he will be one of the biggest stars we've ever had in the UK, far eclipsing any past or present sportsperson. I'd say he is about level with Bruno and slightly below Eubank at the moment, but has the potential to be far more known those both those put together if he gets things right.

boxers love haters, they truly do ..... to paraphrase Mayweather. Fans will always watch you but if you really wanna make it you gotta get those who hate you to tune in too.

Or even Howard Stern on his radio career: The average Stern fan listens for 40 mins, most common reason was to see what he will say next. The average Stern hater listens for 1hr 20mins, most common answer was to see what he will say next!!

Haters can be just as, if not more fanatical than those who like !

AJ is amongst the elite (in terms of popularity) sportsmen over here. even though he is only half way through his career. The part about David Haye and Khan being more popular I aint buying that for a second you think ITV could afford to stick AJ in the jungle .... no chance. They two had to go on that to boost their name and banks, AJ would laugh at what they got paid for that show now sadly !!

Can't really compare as social media has changed the game. So someone being as big as Bruno, Tyson, Ali etc. were back in the day is more impressive than someone getting 1mil retweets in 2018.

I'd go as far as to say AJ is not distracted from his boxing goals. Bruno (as lovely a chap as he was/is) needed that external attentions.
