Don’t think you’ll agree but I reckon Groves is a harder fight than GGG. One’s an elite 160, the other a bigger top 168 who’d probably be more comfortable at 175. Groves will hit harder being the bigger man. GGG knows his limits, hence why he’s stayed at 160 for his entire career.

No I don't agree LOL, but they are very fair points.

The reasons I don't agree is Golovkin is regarded as a very heavy puncher, many fighters have said he is a ridiculous puncher.

Secondly Golovkin looks to have a greater output, better stamina and better chin than Groves.

Thirdly, Golovkin is actually very technically gifted, his footwork is very good, his jab when he uses it is a real weapon, he is a much better boxer than some give him credit for.

So, I believe Jr will get hit more by a harder puncher and I also believe Jr doesn't carry enough power to put a dent in Golovkin.

The only way Jr beats Golovkin is to outbox him or outwork him, I don't believe he is technically good enough to outbox him and I don't believe he can outwork GG without putting himself in serious danger.

Fair points, and having a better chin is something I forgot to consider. I am not picking at your post, but just offering an opinion here...GGG has only done 12 rounds twice in his career, which were obviously his last 2 fights, and in both of them fights he lost the last 3 rounds. This might just be that he takes his foot off the gas (which I doubt) or he might actually find it difficult to sustain the pressure over 12 rounds which leads to doubts over his stamina. He’s blasted nearly everyone out before his last 2 fights so it’s never been questioned before.

He does be knackered causing him to hesitate. There where times when he was in position to throw late with Canelo and he disguised how tired he was well. Its obviously his age now, the quiet part of his fight used to be mid rounds then he would comeback, like letting them back into the fight a little it used to appear, but it was him getting his second wind I always thought. Great great fighter in the twilight of his career now

It’s going to be Spike who steps in isn’t it. Whilst I think he is a number of levels below GGG, at least we know that he’ll bring it for a few rounds. He certainly won’t be getting backed up to the ropes to survive the onslaught, he’ll go out on his shield.

Obviously hope he doesn’t get too hurt.

In the real world he refused to fight Liam Cameron and lost his pen when he could have boxed GGG.

Spike quit against Eubank Jr what chance does he stand against future HoF'er GGG. Get a credible middleweight opponent in the ring! Spike is a great b level fighter but stands no chance here.

I agree mate. As an aside, i’d love to see Junior fight Spike again. He perforated his ear drum early in that fight which was affecting his balance hence them pulling him out. He was having some success and although he was taking shots, we also know that’s how he fights...take one to land one. Would have been a great war that.

I know Spike is a family man and always puts health before boxing but he's not the first to suffer a perforated ear drum in the ring. Have to quote the warriors code on this one. He's always dangerous in a fight as he reminded us against Douglas but I don't want to see him get beaten up by GGG there are 5 or more better available middleweights who GGG could be fighting. No disrespect to Spike he is just not competitive at this level. Would prefer to see him in with Lemieux. Good luck to him if he gets the payday.

Nah I don't see you picking, I see you questioning and making good points and that is what these boards should be about.

Yeah true, to be honest Golovkins age also has to be taken in to consideration, he is only going to decline now and maybe that's what's starting to show.
