GGG is allowed a mulligan after this fiasco compounded by short notice. If it’s an exciting slugfest, which I think it will be, who cares?

Only Clenelo lovers and GGG haters will cry. Just like little man babies.

Isal is another idiot who is in the sub 2-4% who think Clenelo won.

    He’s irrelevant.

No, I don't, at least not entirely, and I'm sick of people saying things like this, especially people like you who should know better.

We ought to be able to say Golovkin is looking worse on a given night than in past outings without somebody always chiming in with a "WELL, ACTUALLY, that's because his opponent was better...", such a goddamn cop-out. Not every little aspect of how someone looks has to do with their ****ing opponent. You should be able to observe empirically that someone's hand speed has lessened from a previous fight without someone from the peanut gallery shouting "no, he just LOOKS slower because of what his opponent is doing! Everything is an optical illusion, don't trust your own eyeballs!"

Yeah they were a higher caliber opposition, no shit. I'm not failing to consider that, believe me. You can have better opposition AND just flat-out look worse, those can be true simultaneously and independent of each other.

You know damn well who that was. But if you don't I'll give you a clue: He was KTFO before and he was also KD by a feather fisted former JrMW. That has been GGGs only good win.

I guarantee you almost 100% that IF and when GGG goes back to fighting Geale, Murray, Wade, Stevens, Lemiuex level opponents he will look as sensational as he always has, and I will also guarantee you that when he fights world level opposition like Jacibs and Canelo, he will look as one dimensional as he did against them.

You're completely right, you can have better opp and look worse and this can be true as you say "simultaneously and independent of each other". In this case however, I don't see where Golovkin has slipped to the point where there isn't a direct correlation between the former and latter (yet).

Seeing him against a less dynamic opponent (Spike) and continuing this downward
trajectory of looking "human" will go a long way towards me agreeing more with your POV.
    Until then............

Truth is, it's probably a bit of both.

His last two fights were probably his best two opponents.

And he has lost a step or two in most aspects of the game.

(The conspiracy theorists will have Canelo eating 'tainted meat' just to postpone the rematch till GGG needs glasses and a cane :D)

given the names team ggg are throwing out for Canelo replacement, your theory is making a whole lot of sense. GGG has to be slipping for them to even be considering Munguia lol

I seriously don't think Golovkin is half what he was in, say, 2015.

If he loses to (or draws with, or hell, even takes a close UD or a SD/MD win over) a no-mark at this stage he can probably kiss the Canelo II payday goodbye.

Yup. I was kind of in denial regarding how much GGG had slipped. I was under the impression that the better comp was making him look more average. It is very coincidental that the better comp just happened to come as he reached 35 yrs of age. I have heard rumors of his knee going bad. But with these names being dropped, its gotta be true that hes on the way down.

If this is the case, then it is what it is. I'll lower my expectations for him accordingly

There is absolutely nothing to back this up but a rumor about a knee injury that could happen to any athlete.
