Personally I’d rate Ginger at A- currently which leaves room for improvement. The slim pickings presented to GGG has more to do with a drought in quality at MW. That said the landscape has changed drastically and there’s more than enough land mines available for him to challenge himself and legitimize his legacy. I’m critical of the guy as well but I don’t mind giving him the benefit of the doubt......for now.

I'm a quiet admirer of Canelo's boxing and his stoic manner in the heat of a fight, but I'm not prepared to grade him that generously. 2-3 years ago my grading was offered with the concession that he could conceivably grow into an A fighter, but he's 28 now, so it's become a little more fixed. If I see clear reason to, I'll recant and adjust my estimation of him accordingly, but I think he's just one of those guys who is very good and fundamentally sound in what he does, but whose particular compound of shortcomings, while not outrageously damning per se, keeps him off the top tier. He and Golovkin are of about the same overall class, IMO, although their strengths are quite different.

That was certainly part of it, but the lack of proactive behavior has to be held against his camp after a while.
