    Love 'em or hate 'em.

Lets discuss who you think has the most polar opposite fanbase and for what reason?

Dempsey is an obvious candidate, along with Marciano, Ali, Tyson etc.

Pacman, i think, more than qualifies.

Fire away....even if they are heavyweights!

Any white lineal heavyweight champion who managed to string more than two title defenses together, seems to qualify for one reason or another.

Anyone undefeated, particularly those who retire as such, will always polarize fans.

It's funny many polarizing fighters at the time (Jack Johnson, Muhammad Ali), have become nearly universally liked. While at the time far more generally liked and less polarizing fighters, Jack Dempsey, Rocky etc. have become the polarizing ones.

All ATG heavyweight contenders and Mayweather; Duran has also caused some ruffled feathers on the forum in the past.

But the top ten in terms of vicious arguments on the forum are all heavyweights. Janitor is incorrect IMO to say that it's the white guys. Very vicious arguments about Tyson especially, Liston, Johnson, Foreman and to a lesser extent Lewis, are all common.

Agree re: heavyweights of all races, not just white guys.

To be fair, the Duran polarization seems to be a divide between those who think he was something similar to God and those who think he was only an excellent ATG.

Is Mike Tyson actually that polarizing? People rate on quite different criteria, but most people's overall evaluation of him seems pretty similar, and he's usually ranked somewhere around lower top 10, albeit with a bit of variation.

Compare that to Jack Dempsey who some say was one of the best ever, while others think he was basically an overhyped fraud. And that's without even getting started on Sullivan (who I would say was up there, but hardly anyone even seems to try to defend him at this point)

I think Janitor was being slightly facetious, but on the whole the white ones are more polarizing, because they were earlier (and people have very different opinions on what that means), and for the early ones there is the colour line and even the later ones there is a lot about white hopes etc. If you went through the full lineage I'd say on average the white ones would be far more polarizing.

Yeah, one of the most polarizing I would say.

I disagree that the white heavyweight champions are more polarizing. Rocky Marciano is the most polarizing fighter on the forum currently, however. But that's in a state of flux.
