Why are no upcoming boxers utilizing the shoulder roll? It's such a tremendously effective technique

The shoulder roll is very to execute in a fight, ask Dmitry Kudryashov.

 

The great Mark de Mori uses it. Wonderful fighter. Gave haye his hardest fight to date.

Oh very well, you're right. The only street fight I ever had was with a guy that wanted to steal my parking and I was like "this is my parking!" And he was like "no it's my parking!" The fight continued:

Me: It's mine!
Him: It's mine!
Me: It's mine!
Him: It's mine!
Me: It's mine!
Him: It's mine!
Me: It's mine!
Him: It's mine!

Then a parking attendant suggested that since the parking lot was nearly empty, we could compromise and both take different spaces. That attendant was a smart cookie. He defused a potentially LETHAL situation. I was gonna Bas Rutten the guy in another 20-25 minutes tops.

 

I have a mental image of MVC going out on the streets fighting thugs like he's some sort of a super hero who pretends to be Floyd.

It's a very difficult move to pull off effectively. You need to be solid in the basics before you can attempt to use it, otherwise you're left wide open. I'd rather more boxers focus on correct footwork, defence and ring control before attempting moves like that, as these are the things which are most lacking in today's boxing.

 

Step forward Anthony 'Real deal Holyfied Jones Jnr' Yarde.

He uses it and is ****ing awful at it hahha

It is a very hard technique to master. If you don't do it properly you end up looking like a wannabe elite fighter like a certain Broner who is actually funny to watch when he tries it.

Post Floyd, only Nacho Berinstein has been able to use the shoulder roll effectively.

Yeah, well back in the day, I was a helluva street fighter every- single -weekend.

After 4 beers...I'd have a helluva fight gettin' up off the street.
