Lots of talk of him being enormous and gigantic. He looked like a SMW in there vs Lara. How he makes the weight I don’t know. But he makes it just fine and then he only hydrated to 163 by the afternoon. Maybe his body is less dense? Mauro Ranallo said Hurd is burger bag and Lara a suitcase.

If he only rehydrated 9lbs then he's hardly killing himself to make weight. Just has a deceptively large frame.

I don't believe in weight bullies honestly. It's a trade off, if you are truly killing yourself to make weight, then shouldn't it affect you fight night?

No. He made the weigh in scheduled weight of 154 or under so he is clear. Hurd is just tall for 154 at 5'11" and has a big upper body and wide shoulders. Roy Jones Jr. is 5"11 and started at 154, Hopkins is 6'1" at MW, Felix Trinidad was 5'11" at welterweight and on and on.
Guys are just Sunday morning cornermaning. Hurd won a slim but fair fight. This should not distract us from the fact that Erislandy Lara went TOE-2-TOE for 12 rounds like a beast.

Hurd is 6'1, but then again, so was Hearns when he was at the weight. If you can make the weight and fight effectively, you're at the right weight.

And yeah, Lara put in work last night against a guy who did a lot of good work on his own. Great stuff.

Not necessarily. Chavez Jr had a killer engine at 160. Same story with Gatti and Hatton.
But then you have Cotto and Alvarez who were clearly affected by weigh cuts.

Last night fight was a classic
Lara went out like s boss
Could have won the fight with just a round difference

The difference is those fighters show boxing skills when they fight. Hurd doesnt do anything special to win fights. He doesnt not show any sort of ability other than putting on the pressure with his size. He has no boxing ability. The moment he goes to his division he gets beat.

Hurd becomes undisputed at 154. He beats Jermell Charlo and if he ever gets his hands on Sadam Ali it’s a wrap.

160 he will have a harder time.
Him and Jermall Charlo will be very interesting

If he didn't have boxing ability, he wouldn't have been able to close distance effectively on his opponent.

Great fight Lara definitely displayed his best offensive performance imo especially when you factor in how big Hurd was.. Had he avoided being dropped then we have a majority draw instead.. that being said Hurd is a monster stalker who takes punishment to give more punishment similar to Tony Margarito when he was 147.. I really hope Haymon don’t allow 154 to become a mess like 147 is right now.. this guy and Charlo need to fight in October pending the result of Charlo/Trout

This sort of reasoning makes very little sense. I didn't realize this was figure skating and fights were judged on how aesthetically pleasing a fighter is. It's a fight. You win by hook or crook by beating up the other guy.

As for Hurd not having any special skills, his ability to pour it on and up his workrate down the stretch is in fact special. When everyone else is tiring and wilting, he's just getting warmed up. His endurance is second to none.

When Hurd becomes undisputed are they still gonna say he’s not special? Or weak division doe? Lol

I'm very suspicious of him being on something that aids him in making weight to 154. But innocent until proven guilty.
