Except he had pretty clear plans on the MW division. You guys....we've been through this a million times already...good grief... Neither ward, nor 3G made any real efforts to get in the ring together.
Did it ever occur to you, that if 3g ws to fight the #1 super mw in Ward, a couple of tune ups (If we want to call JCC and Froch that) were completely acceptable? Did you **** and moan when Ward fought a couple of scrubs prior to Kov at 175? Hell, one of those 175er was just a blown up SpMW. Except none of that bothered you.
The difference is Ward signed a 3 or 4 fight deal with HBO when he moved up with the understanding that one of those fights had to be against Kovalev. Had GGG done the same thing in regards to Ward no one would have said anything about it.
3G wouldn't have to sign a deal because he was already set w/ HBO. But that doesn't even really matter. The whole point is, Ward fought two tune ups prior. And yet, you 3G haters were insistent that he would need to face Ward immediately, because of some words of bravado. And STILL...the idea that 3g would entertain two cash cows before even thinking about Ward just goes over the head of so many posters. "How come Froch....." "How come JCCjr..."
GGG's intention has always been to win all the belts at middleweight before moving up, its not his fault that he has been one of the most avoided fighters in the sport, he would of collected all the belts and moved up years ago if dudes weren't running for the hills at the mere mention of his name. And unlike with Lara, there was a massively lucrative fight waiting for GGG in his weight class (canelo) so the two situations are not remotely comparable...
I wasn't aware that JCC jr held a belt at MW. I wasn't aware that Froch held a belt at MW. I wasn't aware PBF held a belt at MW. The wanting to unify is an excuse because when he tried to fight these guys I just mentioned none of them held a belt at MW.
He could have fought tune ups at 168 if he was going to fight Ward no one here would expect him not to.
Yeah, quick stops to 168 to face a couple top contenders for money fights (You know, just like how Ward was calling out two money fighters) while still trying to obtain goal of unification at 160. And for some reason you guys all hated him because he didn't fight ward right off the bat.
If Lara really wanted to fight GGG, he would have moved to 160 years ago instead of calling him out on Twitter. If they have fought, I've always maintained that GGG would destroy his body. Lara always leaves his body open, especially the right side every time he fights.
"If if's and buts were candy and nuts...every day would be Christmas." Giving up a sure thing to trust the unofficial word of a sanctioning body is a good method to bankruptcy. If GGG wanted the fight, he should have just offered it to him.
Pimp why do you play stupid like this? You know exactly what the plan was for those fights, if they went through. So why do you keep playing this angle like it's confusing??
We can say that about most any matchup, and yet probabilities remain. I'd say the burden of doubt lies heavier on those who think Lara would beat Golovkin than vice versa. Golovkin had Canelo right in front of him much more often in the fight than people seem to recall. Canelo was able to, by turns, negate/evade the offense of Golovkin and make him hesitate, even in his preferred range, because Canelo has an excellent, multi-dimensional defence and the threat of a broader offensive arsenal than Lara with which to give the Kazakh pause. If we were talking about a guy who doesn't know how to cut the ring down, I'd be more inclined to credit your point, but a fellow needs more than a good pair of legs to stymie Golovkin to any significant extent. I'm all for scrutinizing Golovkin, but the whole Lara thing is a nonsensical dead end. Tweeting is one thing, but did Lara's adviser ever make contact with K2 about a fight with Golovkin? Not that we know of. Putting aside our feelings on whether the matchup would have been favorable to Golovkin (I believe it would have favored him strongly, but whatever), Lara and his camp never made any serious approach. In reality, blown-up Lara would have been yet another in a string of ho-hum opponents for Golovkin, but, if the bout had ever taken place, you guys would've obliged yourselves into giving Golovkin excessive credit for the resulting victory on account of the endorsements and fanfare you'd given Lara and the threat you'd declared he represented. A strange state of affairs.
GGG intention was to always avoid challenges and risks. Hilarious to claim he couldn't get fights , then in the same paragraph you justify him avoiding the best opponent he could have fought in his whole career.
