You do realize Tyson could outslug probably anyone in history besides a 73 foreman? Not to mention Tyson outpointed a very good boxer in Tony Tucker
He couldn’t outlsug a 96 Holyfield. Tucker and Tyson entered into one of those silent arrangements that Teddy Atlas talks about.
I've been a regular here since 2005...kind of sad this once great forum has become taken over by immature teenagers like yourself. Now my advice for you is to keep your ears open and mouth closed and let the adults talk.
Frazier MAY have been better at taking sustained punishment but Tyson was certainly better at taking single shots from ATG punchers.
I would've bet the house that Foreman intimidates and kayoes Tyson in 89-90. The fact that Tyson ran all the way to Tokyo to avoid "an easy payday" and kept running afterwards says he probably would've bet against himself too.
John, You're a great guy so I wanted the chance to respond. Holyfield isn't on trial here. More than enough evidence that Holyfield may have always beaten Tyson. I personally think Holyfield got bigger stronger in mid 90s compared to late 80s...which helped his durability. Tyson of the late 80s didn't just throw one at a time. He threw combinations,..a lot of them. Holyfield didn't see these types of punches from the 96 version. I think you add the superior handspeed and combination punching of 88 Tyson to the less durable Holyfield of the late 80s...I think Tyson can stop him Tyson was also much more mentally tough in late 80s..far more willing to go 12 rounds and take the decision if he can't finish you...he trained much harder. He was in better shape too.. Foreman of the 90s couldn't lay the same game plans as Holyfield because he didn't have the tools...he was slow, much slower than Holyfield. He couldn't throw punches in bunches like evander...just one at a time slow loopy telegraphed punches. The speed difference between Tyson and old foreman would be astronomical. While foreman could take evander punches, he wouldn't be able to take tysons. Tyson 4 punch combo is unlike anything a heavyweight has ever thrown. Tyson had great accuracy. Foreman had leaky defense. He swelled badly against Stewart. Can foreman handle getting hit by Tyson for 12 rounds? Foreman in 88 had faced who to test his abilities to that of a Tyson? The fat qawi? It would have been such a higher level that foreman would have Jumped from fighting tomato cans to Tyson. Perhaps a foreman fight with Bruno Thomas Witherspoon tubbs would have told us a lot more The only men to knock Tyson out are great accumulative punchers ....which was not a 88 foreman..who relied on one punch power...Tyson proved against ruddock Bruno etc he can take one big punch. Foremans punching frequency workrate volume punching isn't enough to seriously threaten mike...especially when he will be spending most of the fight covering up to avoid mikes combos Larry Holmes fought for many years...no one knocked him out..except Tyson. ..and he knocked him out cold. No one even in mid 90s could duplicate that
Back at you Suzie. We've always got on great and i respect your opinions for sure mate. I haven't actually bought into Tyson vs Old Foreman as it always does my head in. On one side of the coin how could old George possibly beat him but then that little bit of doubt rides in. Perhaps the outcome might depend on peak Tyson's true mentality. Was it always potentially suss or did it erode over time.
What's with the constant Tyson hate? Man,you can barely hide your contempt for the guy in your posts.
