Im watching old fights tonight. I never followed Froch’s career. Any particularly entertaining fights?
Taylor and the 2 Kessler bouts jump to mind. In a different way, so does the Abraham fight, and in yet another different way, the Groves fights.
They were all pretty good. I never liked Froch but have the utmost respect for what he did inside of the ring, shame he came across as so arrogant and obnoxious. I found it hilarious how Groves at a very tender stage in his career prophosised he was going to hit him with a right hand in the first round and at that point he'd realise that he's in for a real fight... And he did. Got put on ***** Street and only just made it out the first round. This was a guy that still claims to this day he would've beaten Calzaghe, which for me was pure blaspheme. I rarely buy the **** that fighters sell you today, but especially not what Froch said. Nevertheless for a relatively small amount of fights, he fought a who's who selection of the best super middleweights of his era, second to only the very best.
Froch was a Great fighter, and one of the most exciting fighters to watch ever. Kessler 1 & 2 Groves 1 & 2 Taylor Pascal were all really good to watch. Bute fight was a brilliant perfomance , he completely battered him it was Brutal.
Of course the Bute destruction. Good call, I forgot about that one. That was massive if you consider the backdrop at the time. So many people in the game and the media were talking up Bute saying how his slick skills would be too much for the “clumsy limited” Cobra. Bute was the favourite really. That destruction must of felt like vindication for him. People were always undetestimating Froch in his best fight days.
Taylor was an all time classic in my book. Tons of drama. Could have done without his loudmouthed wife at his fights, though.
I appreciated Frochs talent and toughness he was a good fighter even if he was arrogant he backed it up most of the time As for the highlighted sentence in the age of PBF and Connor McGregor showing fighters the way....it makes a financial difference to talk crap liked or hated there's money in them there words the worst thing is for a fighter to be a true professional and expect big paydays he has to brag or sell himself as a fighter to watch Hagler hated it but SRL proved it true. The reason I don't put much stock into alleged "beefs" athletes are competing against media from every angle.
My favorite fighter of the last 25 years. Ducked nobody. A slow, awkward, defensively porous fighter who won with a granite chin, great stamina, above average power, and iron will. Perhaps the most accomplished fighter in regard to success with a limited skill package and tool set of the last 20 years. The Taylor fight is a gem. Both Kessler fights are excellent. The Bute fight was for a Froch fan sweet indeed after he was dismissed as on the downside entering the fight. If you watch the Groves fights in slow motion it's astonishing how many flush shots he eats as he relentlessly stalks Groves.
