Anyone else anticipating the Frampton-Donaire fight as much as I am already? Who u got?

This is one of those fights that has a tonne of intangibles and that makes it hard to pick a winner. Plus I imagine the styles will gel really well and we could be in for an exciting fight.

I can't overly remember Frampton's last performance now, but i thought it was a tale of 2 halfs. First half of the bout he was on point, great defesnively and offensively. Second half of the fight his stamina went and he got drawn into a war.

If he improves his stamina I think he takes a close point decision. If not he's in for a long night...

 

Frampton should win, but I would not be as confident as some others here.

Sure, Donaire is close to done and Frampton will completely dominate the fight early. But Donaire is tough and Frampton can't keep that level for twelve rounds, he tends to take 4 or 5 off. Horatio Garcia had Frampton in all sorts of bother, and this Donaire is probably still better than Garcia.

 

I like Frampton alot. His performances since Santa Cruz have been high caliber.
I see Donaire losing a close decision. If Donaire is shot like most think he is it should be wider.

 

Since Santa Cruz he has lost a rematch and was just ok in a hand pick with Horacio Garcia

 

Maybe at 31 Frampton has already seen better days as well?

 

He's nowhere near the same fighter. He's at least 7 years
away from his prime.

 

He might be just exiting his prime, but Donaire's is long in the rearview mirror.

 

Yeah he's pretty much done, great fighter in his prime though and should be HOF when he retires.

 

Agreed. Where does he rank all-time Filipino? Top 15 without question, but just how far up?

 

He's second Filipino in this era behind Pac so that can't be too bad. He's a ATG at Flyweight though that's for sure.

That's Donaire in a nutshell.

Comes out fast and fades midway and or relies on one punch. Both cases extremely frustrating to watch.Only concern is Donaire's stamina issues. Am watching Frampton dude looks small and too slow for Donaire IMO. But then again Donaire is 35 and can't pull the trigger.

 

I'm looking forward to it actually. When first announced I kind of sighed as Donaire is way past his peak. But he's still competitive around this level and Frampton hasn't looked overly convincing since the first Santa Cruz win. I think Carl takes a 116-112 sort of fight.

 

Huge Donaire fan. He gets a little too much heat for his decline, though it was steep.

I am picking Frampton to win this. But am I the only one who sees a decent chance of close rounds and close scores? I don't know. Def favor Frampton but I see Donaire being more competitive than simply showing up and hopefully he still has some boxing life left in him. Call it wishful thinking I guess.
