    Dibella/Haymon/Finkel + US Market + WBC World Heavyweight champ + 40 fights = $2,000,000 per fight

Hearn + UK Market + IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO World Heavyweight champ + 20 fights = $20,000,000+ per fight

    Hearn is terrible....

    A poor mans Dibella/Haymon/Finkel.

You have posted this comment 3 or 4 times in this very thread.

Hearn is the best promoter in the world for me, no question. He can sell a fight unlike anyone else. He knows what make the casual's tick. Happy?

However, and it's a big however, he contradicts himself all the time and more importantly, it is blatantly obvious that he does not want the Wilder fight next. He is constantly putting up roadblocks. I'm amazed any boxing fan can be fine with this. This is the fight that needs to be made NOW!

After the Parker fight I was a bit more optimistic as I seriously doubt Hearn could do another stadium event here against anyone else other than Fury which won't happen soon or Haye *shudders*. A potential fight in Russia against Povetkin wouldn't be ideal for them either I imagine. All this considered, he is desperate for Joshua to face Miller in the states next I feel.

Oh before I forget, of course he is gunning for that Whyte rematch also. That fight is so close to getting over the line where it will be acceptable for Hearn to make it, sadly. I hope to god not! Whyte and his fan boys are putrid.

Even if the fight generates 100 million... They aren't going to split that between the fighters.... the budget is likely 40 million to actually pay Joshua/Wilder with any other money made being paid to venue, promoters etc etc

Obviously he's now back tracking on his projections for the fights revenue, which obviously suits him when it comes down to the optics of this flat fee offer. But I don't think he's outright lying though he's clearly twisting the current situation to suit his needs, under that smile and the easy going manner he's just like any other promoter.

I will say you have to take his previous statement on the revenue in context. This was earlier in the year and he was talking about what he "hoped" the fight could make. His original plan was to fight later in the year, to likely fight Miller in the US in the summer to grow Joshua's popularity in the US and build revenue for a fight later in the year when he had hoped to maximise revenue.

Now of course this scenario Hearn had hoped for isn't the one we are seeing right now. Hearn isn't negotiating the fight later in 2018 like he hoped, I think AJ has forced his hand to try and make the fight sooner. The way AJ has been talking he doesn't want to wait til the autumn or winter he wants to shut Wilder up ASAP. This along with the WBA ordering Povetkin's mandatory means Hearn won't get his summer fight in the US to help build the interest in a fight later in the year between AJ/Wilder, so he hasn't had chance to maximise revenue which could explain the difference between his expectations earlier in the year and what he is projecting now as the revenue for a summer fight.

Either way it's immaterial as this flat fee offer is expected to be rejected, even Hearn knows Wilder won't take it. It will come down to a traditional split when they do agree to the fight.

There were and I was one of the many who brought it to light not to mention Ward paying only Brank 300k to serve as a punchbag.

What many boxing fans fail to understand is that the purse recieved for a fighter has to be split between many different parties from the coaches, nutritionists, then there are the percentages that the both the promoters and personal managers take out. Lastly there is the tax deductions, so in reality they go home with a pittance unless it's a big multi-million payday.

We get it, you like Eddie Hearn and think highly of him.

The rest of us are wondering why he doesn't think that this is a 100m fight. My observations suggest that:

    a) he's not the genius that he thinks he is especially since this is the biggest fight in boxing at the moment and it should be capable of doing 100m.

    b) his insistence of keeping the fight in the UK is limiting its earnings potential.

If he wants to keep the fight in the UK he needs to amend the time so that it conforms to 10pm East Coast Standard Time at start of the telecast leading to the main event at 12:00am. Otherwise, the fight needs to be in America; Madison Square Garden or Las Vegas. The American PPV Market is far too lucrative to ignore.

Let's put this in perspective, when Micheal Spinks fought Mike Tyson in what was the biggest fight in boxing in 1988 he made $13.5 million. Not only was he the B side but that fight was roughly 30 Years Ago. Meanwhile in 2018 Deontay Wilder is being offered $12.5 million as the B Side.

Someone give Don King the promotional rights and make this fight already!

Look it's not Hearn's job to make Wilder rich, but its his job to sell the fight and create enough buzz that will invariably increase the size of the purse.

Hearn also said 20% was fair for Parker and shock, horror! He walked away with 33%.

Would love to see some people on this forum negotiate anything.

    @Brighton bomber bringing the truth.

You are comparing Apples and Oranges. Mike Tyson was a huge huge star who generated tens of millions. A Mike Tyson of 1988 in 2018 would be writing his own cheques, that how big he was.

AJ does not do this in the US neither does Wilder. There was a reason why Eddie Hearn said this fight needed to be built more and preferably he would like to get AJ over more in the US first.

Its the fans who seem to think otherwise when the reality is this fight really isn't that big in the USA. Nowhere close to what Tyson v Spinks was.

Tyson v Spinks did 600,000 PPV buys generating $21 million. AJ v Wilder will not sell that many and who knows if it even does over 300k?

A further $12.3 million came from the 21,785 live gate.

How can you claim the US PPV Market is too lucrative to ignore when we have two fighters here who have never even fought on US PPV?

If Wilder was a PPV fighter and actually a star we could of had a huge huge fight but his not and his nowhere close. 40 fights, 39 KO's yet no PPV. Without AJ he will never be on PPV yet you want to talk about a lucrative US PPV Market?

Again what Metric do we have to suggest AJ v Wilder would do big numbers at the gate in the US? Wilder is not a big draw. He doesn't sell out arena's, that's a fact!!

According to the Tweet, Hearn says $40m is a 'conservative budget' for the fight. Meaning he expects it to be significantly MORE. He's more slippery than a Jellied eel...

He works for TalkSport in the UK - not really thought to be a reliable source of information tbh, although the individual journalist may well be decent, I don't know him. What I do know is TalkSport is owned by News Corp who have a controlling interest in Sky (40% or so).
