Are you saying that Pacquiao could keep Duran off him?

Are you suggesting that you view Pac's wins over Barrera, Morales, and (especially) De La Hoya - as better victories than Duran beating Leonard?

Well not the fighters themselves, but in light of what I know about Ray and Duran,, and how Ray beat Duran 2 times after this. The 3rd fight was not prime fighters, but it showed a stylistic advantage for Ray in style.. The fact Ray did not fight his fight ( which can be seen in the way he fought), and still he went 15 was impressive against an experienced legend like Duran.

And would not have to, for what it’s worth, watch the David Diaz fight and Pacquiao dominated him inside

Duran. People forget Duran was a TOP TOP class counter puncher in addition to a hunter.

His losses came when age and out of ring indiscipline slowed down his legs and he became more of a counterpunching/infighting waddling overweight penguin who needed his bigger opponents to be there for him like Cuevas, Barkley, Moore

But at his peak he could do everything

When I really sit and think about it, I rank Manny ATG status very close to Duran's.

Duran's best win was SRL which is a great win but might be slightly overrated. When its talked about, you imagine Duran dominating Leonard but that wasn't the case. Leonard fought Duran's fight but actually did very well but Duran was more confident in that kind of fight from the start. Leonard's confidence arose too late.

His second best win IMO was his upset over Barkley.

Of course he was superb at lightweight. But I think those two victories are the main contributors of vertiginous legendary status.

On the flipside, while no shame but all excuses aside, he was schooled in the Leonard rematch. Couldn't do anything with Benitez. Lost a close fight with Laing. Fought to survive against Hagler and was effortlessly annihilated by Hearns.

Manny's reign of terror began with his beat down of Morales in the rubber match. Rising to superstardom by beating OLH into retirement. Further ruining Hatton (although Mayweather initiated his ruin). Slaughtering a heavily favored Cotto. Finally pouncing Margarito and then Mosley.

That's one of the most jaw dropping primes in history. All from a fighter who began his career at 108lbs.

JMM put him to sleep but it was still competitive. Mayweather clearly beat him but again, clearly competitive. How much weight can you put on his losses to Horn and Bradley?

All said and done, Manny is bare minimum top 10 for me.
