How popular is boxing in the UK? You ever been called an ''eccentric'' for reading a copy of Boxing News (which I used to read religiously every week ) and not wearing any socks? (I wasn't barefoot I was wearing trainers)

Give me a while and i'll find more, these are just off the top of my head.

And before you question the bottom 3, all 3 have more participants than football.

Iceland qualified for the world cup with only 330,000 people. imagine if they had the budget and population of the UK. who cares how much money you people dump into a sissy sport?

I don't think O'Sullivan will make close to 1 million in his next two fights. He should have taken the offer. If I were his manager, he'd take the fight.

Its an opportunity of a lifetime to fights a hall of fame bound, 36 year old champion. A loss = a career pay day. A win = His next fight he'll make far more than 1 million.

The small purse is due to the potential negative backlash that will probably effect the fight. Which all all Canelos doing in the first place.

Perhaps so. Still, from his point of view, if he beats TBA on May 4 he's almost certain to get a crack at one of the elite next - Canelo, GGG & Jacobs have all sent him offers in the last six months.

He'll get at least double $250k for any of those if the fight is properly promoted.

Golovkin is the A side, he deserves all the money. As a matter of fact, his opponents dont even deserve 2 percent of what Golovkin makes.

Yes. Note that Golovkin does get more from his HBO contract though, so his total earnings will definitely hit 6 figures.

That's why HBO are so keen for the fight to be cancelled - they have a limited number of fights in the contract and want them all to be big money fights.

Had Golovkin demolished Canelo the first time, does anyone believe he would be offered peanuts for this fight or the next?

He would probably be in line for a PBF superfight by now, instead of barely scrapping by to get a corpse.

    It's all gone to pieces.
Serves him right for trying to con his public.

HBO wants to ensure GGG fights some desperate broke bum, not a credible opponent.

Absolutely appalling to see GGG and his fanatics shifting the blame on HBO.

This is beyond a joke now, you couldn't right an excuse so pathetic (but you did lol)

GGG is a rock star PPV fighter, HBO won't look fondly on GGG and his groupies slandering their name.

Fight Derevyanchenko don't try to fight bums that have never fought @ 160.

No May 5, no worries Billy Joe will absolutely school this old man. It will be about as competitive as the Lemieux fight.

I happen to think GGG should still beat Derevyanchenko, he is nothing special at all. Billy Joe is though, he is the best pure boxer on the planet. The Old man doesn't have the gas tank to even challenge Bill, and we all know that is his achillies heel.

Just over halfway there.... and that’s being extremely generous to “sports” like groundhound and horse racing, which only exist for gambling purposes. If you are going to include those you might as well include blackjack, poker etc

Darts? I mean, I’m sure blokes like playing Darts at the pub but if you are gonna count them you might as well count every drunk who throws hands at the pub also.

The Professional Darts Corporation employed a total of 30 staff members in 2017 and had a total of £11.7 million in prize money on offer. Hardly a sporting powerhouse.

I’d give you tennis, golf and perhaps basketball but that would be it.

I’d say Boxing is quite easily ranked in the top ten of popular sports in the UK with the stats backing that assumption up.
