Seems his ban is working out pretty well for the poor chap. Gets a break mid-way through an already long career to recharge the batteries, fits in some corrective surgery which has probably needed doing for some time and GGG continues to drift further past his peak while 'feasting' on a low ball HBO offer for a fight to replace the mega-money rematch with Canelo which was cancelled through no fault of GGG, and placing him in a position where, as time ticks on his career, a cash-out bout with Alvarez later this year or early next becomes his only financially viable option. Nice. What a stitch-up...

Some PEDs like Winstrol are reported to make tendons more brittle and injury prone.

Things are starting to make more sense day by day.

It's arthoscopic, so it won't be a long layoff.

im sure canelo's surgeon will be much better qualified than mine (even tho he was pretty good) but still it depends on the individual. I had a torn labrum. To this day the shoulder is still off :(

I had keyhole surgery when my appendix burst and I was also wrecked for months. I was hobbling round like an old man for a good 4 months and I couldn't sleep on my right hand side for about 3 months. I say it was keyhole surgery but technically that's not entirely true, because the surgeons started off doing keyhole surgery but they had to switch to the far more invasive open surgery shortly into it because my appendix exploded like a grenade.

I think a lot of the PED theorising is rubbish, but I will note that "convenient" knee injuries is something that has put a lot of shade on Rafael Nadal's career. He has previously announced knee or hip injuries, disappeared to a rural backwater to recover (small town in Menorca), and come back very strong and fast (on one occasion re-appearing with a much faster serve). He typically wins a few tournaments straight out of convalescence, then suffers another "injury"and goes "off-grid" again. There have also been a few post-dated TUEs for various not-quite-kocher therapies (platelet injections). I cannot throw Canelo under the bus re doping but his actions are not the best for refuting the case.
