    Not disrespectful to say if a still respectable but far from prime Louis busted him up like that the guy that destroyed a Max Baer could have hurt the Rock.

    For Marciano at that time, yes.

    Underdog, smaller man, far less experienced.

    It was only a non title eliminator.
    I think Dempsey, Louis and Marciano's successor Patterson won the world championship with opponents no better than the 1951 Louis.
    It was a solid step in Marciano's career.

    If we talk about the truly great all time heavyweight wins, it probably doesn't rank. But that list would be a very short one anyway.
