British Lionhearts, NZ boxer David Nyika beat the aussie 3-0 for the heavyweight gold medal. That's his second gold in 2 tournaments. He may turn pro after this, he stated that he was undecided at the moment which is surprising. I would have thought hed still be 100 percent commited to the olympics. Would like to see him go to the UK and get a world class trainer

He's nearly 23 and will be approx 25 come Olympics. He might want to earn some coin now.

As far as Kiwi's go he is one of our most decorated amateurs any way. Even if he won Olympic gold I doubt he would get any extra attention as a pro.

He has the talent so I hope he does well wherever he goes. Duco have proven you can make it from basing yourself in NZ.

I'd say he could make more coin here than he would anywhere else at least initially and I would expect UK promoters to look after their own before a kiwi too.

Nyika is a far better talker than Joe Parker that's for sure and he has the looks too. I think he would be quite marketable here. Joe didn't need to talk because Deano and Higgins had that covered though I suppose.

I think Nyika has the athleticism to make it as a pro, his power has developed a lot too. When he was a skinny light heavyweight he was pretty feather fisted but the power has developed well now he is built like a man. He just needs to tighten his defense and he will be hard to beat.

Yep. Well Duco showed us that a boxer can base himself in nz, but Parker had Barry and was often in Las Vegas for training camps. I doubt Nyika would go with Barry for some reason. And not sure if Nyika would get the sparring, coaching if he were to be based in nz. Maybe based and training in Aus would be the go and fight in NZ.

David probably wont go to the UK. He is from Hamilton which is where I live, I often see him at the supermarket and his brother josh who just turned pro dated my ex girlfriends best friend.

Anyways David is similar to Joseph Parker in that he's all family values and loyalty to his local community etc and sadly it'll probably cost him as a pro.

Don’t think he does. Gets frustrated quite easy and movement is a very very easy way to frustrate someone

Pat Mccormack and Peter Mcgrail looked like class acts as usual, both still very young.. big future

Sammy Lee done well to win Gold for Wales at Light Heavyweight. He's only 19! Exciting to watch. Surely he should be getting into the GB squad now..
