The term "glass jaw" gets thrown around a lot these days. When a fighter gets knocked out, he's said to have a glass jaw. Some say that the problem is less the fighter's chin and more his poor defense. What do you think? Is there such a thing as a glass jaw? And who are some fighters the majority can agree have one?
Hell yes there is such a thing. I get your point though, but look at Froch. If he had a weak chin he wouldnt of made it to world level. He certainly took a few to land a few. For me though its how you get up, Froch and Calzaghe could shake off a really good shot after a few seconds, people like Khan, if he manages to get up, is a mess for quite a while so its pretty much game over.
I had a conversation a little similar to this earlier today, talking about David Price, he has a problem when he gets hit above the ear/side of the head. Thompson I, was just clipped above the ear and he was all over the place. Povetkin, right hand slipped over his shoulder, hit him on the side of the head and he was out the game standing upright. I've seen Price punched in the mouth and he isn't always all over the place, it's when he gets hit to the side of the head.. so does he have "glass temples"?
Tank Davis should be on the watch list, although maybe it's just jello up there at this point. There's a fine line between Glass & Granite
He did really well vs Pedraza but his last fight he seemed off. He just slurs his words at a young age makes me wonder if he's gonna get cracked
Hell yeah glass jaws exist in boxing, and lots of fighters have them to one degree or another. Bottom line - when a fighter hits the canvas once, that raises questions about his punch resistance, when it happens multiple times, that's a glass jaw.
The Povetkin fight made me think that maybe that's where Price's ON/OFF switch is. Thompson pushed it so hard that the whole thing fell down at once. Povetkin shut the thing down first.
Wilder's got one. .. just waiting to be shattered. He's already hit the deck twice against stiffs. Only a matter of time.
Damned good thing that Haymon's referee saved Wilder, gave him extra time and we had Haymon's judges...................Wilder will get knocked out by Joshua, but Joshua can't pay Wilder enough money to get him into a ring!
Yup. It's pretty clear that Glaw Jawed Wilder and his handlers are running scared from Joshua because they KNOW what would happen when AJ lands one of his bombs on Wilder's fragile mandible.
