No... never thought that was a comepetive matchup.

Kovas form has dived in the last 1.5 years'ish so I actually think it could be a good scrap right now but I think vintage Kova vs G would be won decisively by Kova.

To put it in perspective though, I think Beterbiev would have wrecked Kova...

So in this scenario... in my perspective, talking vintage forms

    Beterbiev >> Kovalev > Golovkin

(Though like I said as of right now G could maybe beat Kova as he looked very poor in his last fight)

Anyways... theres a reason I dont want Golovkin leaving middleweight. With his body type, his attributes and his style, and his age, I am fairly confident he has little to no success at 175... and definitely not against the likes of Beterbiev

Beterbiev is arguably the worst match-up for Golovkin at LHW. He brutalizes his opponents.

Ward would be very unlikely to do much damage, even if he did win a clear UD, and even Kovalev doesn't necessarily get the KO. I always thought those would be competitive fights in Golovkin's prime, a p4p guy should be able to be competitive with a guy two divisions up even if one couldn't pick him.

But Beterbiev vs Golovkin would certainly be a brutal fight because of the styles, and it's only going to go the way of the bigger, younger and far stronger man: Beterbiev.

Beterbiev would kill GGG at 175.

Okay, among the GGG fanboys on the site, I was the one consistently saying Ward and Froch would beat him with relative ease, I never gave him a chance against Kovalev, and while I think Beterbiev is vastly overrated and is a tad bit one dimensional, that one dimension being he's a big strong guy who bludgeons his opponents savagely, that isn't a great style match for a guy whose power seems to be ebbing as is his speed and that's at Middleweight, I doubt his power, what's left of it would carry up to 168, much less 175, so Beterbiev walks through him and batters him mercilessly, it would look like the first match of Roman Gonzalez vs. an orthodox version of Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, only ending in a late TKO stoppage.

You don't trust GGG's chin to see him through here? Slash don't think a diminished (let me just pull 75% outta my ass) variant of his power is enough to explore the possibilities Jeff Page revealed to us?

They never forced him, he signed the contract for the money so those were the terms

Jeff Page didn't reveal anything to me other than Beterbiev had crappy balance for a second.:deal: Granted GGG hits a lot harder than Page, but.... GGG was cautious against guys like Stevens and Lemieux, because he feared their power, trust me, he'll fear Beterbiev's. And yeah, I do trust GGG's chin to last, I don't foresee a brutal KO loss, maybe a Sanchez, you've had enough Rosales-Higa mercy stoppage, yeah that was an analogy change.:D GGG's chin is good enough to take Beterbiev's power but eventually it'll get uncomfortable to watch, and Abel will pull him for his own good.

Clearly not the point. He also signed to fight canelo for mNY millions for 05/05...think he's getting that still?

Point is, he deserves to have his fight coming up, if at the VERY least, to get him back in the ring. And aside from the canelo/GBP debacle, he's always been pretty active.

Once he's done w/ his may fight, let those who want to face him re-do their scheduling if they are sincere. A may fight w/ TBA can still produce a Aug/ Sept BJS/SD fight if there.

    Beterbiev would end a washed-up middlewieght's career.

This isn't just any middleweight, and he's past-prime, not "washed-up".

Technically I agree with you. But people who make their living promoting fighters know the sport better than I do, and it ain't no accident that Beterbiev can't get anyone to fight him and Golovkin is getting called out in three weight classes. Even for short money. Add in the fact that one is 175 lbs. and one is 190 and the bigger guy is younger, and it's Tripple-Goodnight.

Three weight classes? The only guy AFAIK saying "I'll fight Golovkin purely for legacy, no matter what terms" is V-Mart. :nusenuse:

Spike was calling out GGG as vociferously as pretty much anyone in the game for the last couple of years (though nobody took him seriously until about five weeks ago) - but even he ultimately drew a firm line in the sand regarding what he wanted in return for the risk of getting in with Golovkin, even a faded version that has looked increasingly mortal of late.

Honestly this would be no more a David vs. Goliath upset than Usyk vs. Medzhidov was in the amateurs; the size disparity is comparable as is the gap in skill in favor of the smaller man.

If we all just take for granted that a MEGA-TALENT with a sky-high ring IQ who's a natural cruiser is able to defeat a fairly skilled & talented super-heavy like it was nothing worth hooting about (because you sure as hell don't see threads here on a daily basis marveling at Usyk's accomplishment, though maybe we should), then why can't we just substitute the words "middleweight" and "light heavy" into that sentence in place of "cruiser" and "super-heavy"?

Agreed. I don't think Beterbiev was hurt at all by the Page KD. Just got caught off balance.
