@Dubblechin I can't believe you're actually defending Wilder's approach of not wanting to become undisputed, or even unify. If Joshua is forced to drop a belt, it will be going nowhere near Wilder.... Any governing body will see that financially, Europe is where the belt must remain. Whyte/T.Fury/H.Fury/Povetkin Parker is claiming that he's going to fight in the UK from now on.... Gassiev/Usyk coming up to Heavyweight.... Dubois/Joyce/Hrgovic all future talents.... Wilder will more than likely get to 50-0, fighting more sub-european standard US heavyweights.
Just because this involves a Brit and an American does not in any other way make that a useful comparison.
Just pointing out your argument can easily be flipped. If anyone disagreeing with 60/40 is delaying the fight, anyone disagreeing with 5 times Wilder's biggest purse is equally guilty, more so because that's an actual, costed, offer from Hearn and a yes from Wilder would've meant game on. No. No antipathy to Wilder, I like him and I respect any fighter in the ring, but he doesn't deserve 40%. One of these boxers took risks, big risks that could easily have gone wrong. The other has been cossetted with a succession of cherry picks, second and third raters etc. AJ has 3 current top 10 scalps in his 21 fights to Wilder's 1 in 40. Incidentally this behaviour had all but killed the HW division. Guys prizing their 0 above taking a risk. Wilder is the arch exponent of it. 40 fights, one, perhaps 2 live opponents if you rate Stiverne. 8 defences of the WBC belt, one decent name in Ortiz and he was looking way past his best in recent fights. By taking risks AJ has built up a massive following. They're the people who will provide the gate income, they're the people who will provide the vast majority of the TV revenue and they're the people whose interest is going to bring in the additional sponsorship revenues. By taking risks AJ has 3 (or 4 with IBO) belts to put on the line. He's overpaid each of them (bar Wlad) but they mean that if Wilder gets in that ring he's one good right hand away from superstardom and a place in boxing history that he really doesn't deserve. That's entirely down to AJ unifying the belts. What does Wilder bring? One belt that he's not enhanced much by his stewardship of it. His passport which gives him a tenuous claim on the large US market he's so markedly failed to monetise himself. He's a good talker, although if I were AJ I'd dock him points for his rank hypocrisy in accusing the unified champion He deserves a share. He's away from home risking his belt. He deserves to be well paid. To say he deserves 40% of a pot he's done so little to create is ludicrous however. To argue otherwise is to reward Haymon's management of Wilder, the practices which all but killed the HW division. It's to fail to reward risk taking and ambition, which boxing needs more of, not less. Hearn has effectively offered 30% with no up/downside. I think if Finkel Haymon can get that converted to a 30% share then they should take it. Then Wilder and AJ can both risk everything they bring to the table, uneven as that contribution is.
Look if Hearn offered a 30% split that's a start. But he won't offer a percentage and that is ultimately my biggest issue and why I think the fight isn't getting made. If he offers a flat fee, that means he knows it does WAY more than that. Way more.
Wilders according to hearn next fight be announced before end of April. So obviously they been negotiating now and it's finalized.
This is like you have a group fo Treasure Hunters on an island looking for 4 pieces of a map, All but one of them are digging non stop to find these pieces and one Hunter has actually found one by luck and then 2 more with hard effort. Now we have another Hunter who also found a piece by luck and since then has sat on his boat shouting at the rest as they all continued to dig. Now all the pieces have been found he has suddenly got off his boat and is demanding a fair share of the wages for finding these pieces. Reality is he sat on his boat while the rest worked and nothing anyone here can say will change that fact, if the fight does not get made he is the only one you can blame because if he had not been so lazy he could have got these belts himself but he didnt and thats a fact
I think he will offer a percentage, but the flat fee offer and the AJ give me $50m of your $100m dollar pot served its purpose. It shows what value they think wilder represents. It shows how they view the dynamics of the negotiation, where the power lies etc. It moves the narrative away from: 50/50 / oh okay then if you must 60/40 but we want the same in the rematch To: Ŵe don't think you are even worth a percentage. We can offer you 5 times your best ever purse and that's generous. The talk about the value of the fight is just talk. The only serious offers are coming from us. I'm hopeful this has helped move us closer to a deal. Wilder's team need a win to justify their own roles in this. They can now argue hearn around to a percentage, but the value will be lower than previously hoped for.
Wilder's negotiating tactic is to walk away and agree another fight for a fraction of the money. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...
Wilder will make a “guaranteed” 12.5 M and unify ALL the long separate titles if victorious, or he will make 2-4 M fighting someone else no one gives two hoots in hell about seeing Decisions, decisions And this is the guy that “”””claims”””” to want to fight Joshua every other breath
Wilder has been hiding from Joshua, but now he is also hiding from Povetkin who beat him in court! Povetkin was cleared, Povetkin was cheated out of the fight wth Wilder because he has HAYMON BOXING INSURANCE!
