Be fair.. Did I say 50/50 split?

Wilder has thrown all sorts of figures around and most are ridiculous when you take in to consideration all the factors.

This...However i do believe Hearn and Joshua want at least one of the Wilder fights in London. However this fight is made for Las Vegas, Wilder has just started to become a star, let it marinate, have AJ fight in America. It will build and build

I thought half of these fights not being made was due to fighters getting tv rights money?

Didn’t cleverly get peanuts to fight jack but was given the sky money?

I actually agree with hearn. I,d have offered 12 million as well. Its a lot of money for a guy that's highest purse is say 2 million. Wilder should be biting his hand off for that. What's the alternative for him. More risky fights for a million or two a pop.

The truth is Joshua's done it right from the start. Took risks. Fought some good solid fighters. Been built and promoted perfectly meanwhile wilders done almost everything wrong. He was a complete joke with fans till he got that Ortiz win. A guy that had,nt looked convincing for a while. Would hold out for a percentage if I was wilder but the balls in his court. Its a duck from him as far as I m concerned. Joshua doesn',t need him. Its down to wilder to make it happen.

It’s irrelvant how much Wilder has been earning before- it’s about what this fight will generate for both fighters.

Forgetting the potential US money for one moment (which AJ and Hearn have been doing with their public reasoning so far) let’s look at the UK. AJ- Wilder right now would smash the UK PPV record if it was made for this summer -I don’t think there is anybody which would doubt that. Wilder coming over for a press conference and going off on one would send the causals into orbit. Sky will no doubt increase the PPV to £20 maybe+ and Hearn will be increasing the ticket prices are especially for premium seats. Sponsorship revenue will also go up - everything will go up so people trying to downplay what Wilder brings to the table need to open their eyes.

He is the WBC champion and if AJ wants to be undisputed he needs him.

Also, after a disappointing fight against Parker, I suspect that Povetkin at Wembley/Cardiff again will not be quite the same hot ticket. A ‘boring’ Russian geezer who speaks little English and therefore can’t create any banter/beef will severely hurt the hype meter IMO.

Assuming the Wilder fight isn’t next AJ should definately go for a US fight next to break things up otherwise it will start to become stale.

Up to now, I think AJ’s name has been enough to fill stadiums, but with his last two performances (which were ironically his best ones imo) the entertainment value for the casual fans has gone down a few notches. Hearn is right, it is AJ that brings 90% more to the table in every department....but with Wilder as an opponent, AJ can bring even more money to the table. His value is linked to the quality of his opponent.

That said, it is AJ who has nearly all the belts and Hearn who has all the cards. If Wilder believes he can win, take the career high money and fight him, because the likes of Miller & Whyte would fight him for a tenner.

The reality is Joshua can keep fighting anyone in the top ten for the next few years...with the sky hype behind him and he,ll still sell incredibly...without the risk of fighting probably the current most dangerous opponent.

He really doesn't need wilder at all. Not that many even know what undisputed means. There's also now Tyson fury around to take the attention away from a wilder v Joshua fight.

On the otherhand wilder has no real fanbase. Hes at the stage he has to fight risky opponents now. How long before someone knocks him out and the 12/15/18/20 million paydays gone. He,ll be doing it for about two million...each fight if he can even get that.

Joshuas the draw regardless of wilder. He should hold out for a percentage but thirty percents a very good percentage if he can get it. Or he can try and set up a fight that he,ll make about a tenth of what he,d get for Joshua. Meanwhile Joshua can get a ten million payday against a guy thats 38 years old past his best....who price almost had our of there. I know what I,d do offer the thirty percent and leave it at that. Continue on till the guy mans up and takes the fight. Wilder should be biting his hand off even if 12 million was the final offer at this stage tho.

I don't think that's a 100 million pound fight anyway. That was Eddie putting his promotive spin on it. Struggle to make fifty million I bet. Wilders not that great..hes only just got his first legitimate win against a guy that's about forty....that almost had him out of there. Not a masdivd name in the US. And recent bouts starting to show Joshua's not quite the incredible fighter they,ve been plugging. Will sell well...wouldn't be sitting guaranteeing over fifty million tho.

You make some very good points and I agree with many. However, in this day and age when everybody wants things to happen yesterday, I don’t think AJ can get away with ignoring Wilder and just making normal defences for long. The fans and media are already on Hearn and AJs back asking for a Wilder fight at every opportunity- to the point both have shown irritation about it in interviews especially leading up to the Parker fight when Hearn is having to redirect media to concerntrate on that fight.

It’s probably not going to be long before the actual paymasters Sky and showtime start pushing for a Wilder fight also.

We heard the boos after Takam, the Perker fight bored everybody and showed that he’s not quite the monster he was billed as you mentioned. The hype is starting to slowly die down.

The thing about Wilder is (I get his team of businessman advisors will not think this way) but he is not the type of guy who jumps, sings and dances when Hearn goes on about money ‘come to England mate and fight Whyte, you’ll make more
Money then you’ve ever had blah, blah, blah’ which is probably true but Wilder is a small town country boy and 2million US is probably not that far off the equivalent to what AJ is taking home interms of standard of living when you compare the economies. Wilder is set for life - he’s already living nicely.

Interms of Wilders profile, as I said K believe he has made the breakthrough in the US now. He has very winnable fights like Breazeale and maybe Miller which he can continue to build
On - who knows with maybe exciting KO wins and AJ continuing to win maybe, showtime and the Vegas bosses decide they want the fight over there which will change the trajectory of the negotiations.

Let’s see what happens but think the fight will eventually happen and when it does the deal will be confidential but definately a percentage contract

    You are spot on.

    Wilder brings:

    WBC Belt
Will smash UK PPV numbers in the UK
Will do good numbers in the USA (wilder ain't the non entity that Hearn like to try and play, albeit not as big as he could be)

60/40 in AJ's favour is more than fair. Absolute nonsense what other people are saying. It was the same when GGG was offered a ridiculous 10million dollar flat free from Golden Boy and u had idiots claiming it's much more than what he has earned so far. It would be malpractice on behalf of his team if they accepted that offer and Golden Boy knew it. Same situation here.

Hearn is desperate for AJ to fight Miller before wilder.

The issue I have with this fight not getting made now, is if its not, then does it ever happen?

This might just be the only time and the right time to make it.

There a number of mandatories to come for AJ and Wilder, and when either man loses, that makes this fight no longer relevant.

Boxing HW history is littered with moments like this, when big fights dont get made, because a loss happens and then when we look back on both mans career neither ever fought each other. Or the fight happens so late in both mans careers that it no longer matters (for example, Lewis vs Tyson).

Why are people arguing about whether it's a flat fee OR a percentage ?
Why can't the offer be both ? ie. A flat fee against a percentage.

It's a simple deal, been done dozens of times in the past. The boxer is paid the guaranteed flat fee or he takes the split after the money's been counted, whichever turns out greater.
If the fight does well he takes the percentage, otherwise he gets the guarantee.

Wilder's team don't even want to negotiate. They haven't made the counter-offer they promised. Hearn's initial offer may be "lowball", but it's a starting point as there needs to be in any negotiation. Now it looks like Wilder and his team have thrown their toys out of the pram and are going to fight Breazeale for a fraction of the money. All the moves are being made by Hearn. Nothing from Wilder or any one his three managers. They clearly don't want the fight.

Did you hear Hearn's latest IFL interview where he talks about it? I got through quite a bit of it before throwing in the towel, and while you have to take quite a bit of what he says with a pinch of salt, he does make some good points. Interesting that the Wilder offer works out as double what Parker earned..

He makes the point that fighters are getting massively overpaid when they fight Joshua. It's easy to see what previous opponents made fighting AJ, and what they have made fighting anyone else. Wlad is the one exception who has had comparable paydays before. The rest aren't close.

Hearn said Joshua balked at some of the fees his opponents got in the past, but Hearn assured him that this was the way to go position themselves so they could call more of the shots in future i.e. command bigger paydays.

Now I know this is a bit of Hearn trying to play good cop bad cop making out that AJ just wants to fight and it's Hearn doing the business. But I can see how they would now want to turn the screw a bit more.

I don't think it's necessarily about not letting on how much the fight is going to make. It's about starting to take bigger advantage of Joshua the brand and taking advantage of having 3 of the belts. And unfortunately it's also about Joshua having other options.

Yes mate I did, that interview is what got me scratching my head and prompted this thread. I totally get what they have done with AJ and I see their point of view. But like I said in the OP, he can't do any of it without the opponents, so they want paying well.
I totally get that AJ is the draw, but at the same time why would anybody bother fighting him if its not going to be worth their while? Not so much the case now he has the belts because they are the golden ticket, but Hearn talks about over paying from day 1. My point is why would anybody turn up to get knocked out by the supposed second coming of Mike Tyson for the same money they'd get fighting the usual Joe Bloggs? Not gonna happen is it.
So in that regard I do get what Hearn keeps saying but the fact is it comes with the territory IMO. Yes without Aj there's no money but you could say exactly the same in reverse, without opponents for AJ there's no money either. Not to mention the fact that Hearn is no doubt exagerrating the extent of these over payments.
As I say, it's unquestionable that AJ takes the lions share from any fight. But the simple fact is a flat fee offer as opposed to a percentage is just ludicris really from Wilders POV. I mean fair do's if it was being done to make the fight happen, but anyone with half a brain can see it's being done because Hearn will have the gut feeling that it will work out in their favour, he's not daft is he.
It may well work out in the end that the flat fee offer turns out to be a substantial percentage anyway, but you can bet your last pound on the fact that Hearn wants a flat feee because it's likely to work massiveley in AJ's favour.

It's interesting that the side that has actually made an offer is getting the majority of the criticism. If Wilder wants the fight he will be making his team negotiate. Even if they counter with stupid amounts that Hearn won't countenance they will still be in the conversation.

Compare Joshua - Wilder to Joshua - Parker. Can anyone claim that Wilder's team are even half as eager to make the fight as Higgins had been for Joshua - Parker.
