Rooney would of helped Mike adjust, Tyson`s peek a boo guard was much looser here also, there were a lot of shots Tyson could of blocked.

    Poor Mike. What a victim.

While we don’t have a wide shot to see where he’s pointing, referee Mills Lane says in his prefight instructions that both men have their trunks too high — “If he goes here, I’m not going to call it low, all right? (And) If he goes here, I’m not going to call it low.”

Of the low blows you’ve pointed out, only one is not on the beltline and it kind of brushes the hip of Tyson (not in the cods).

You could have also shown the excessive holding on Tyson’s part (the ref having to literally pry them apart as he won’t let go as instructed repeatedly) AND the point in the second round where he attempts to arm bar Holy using both hands to try to twist/hyperextend the arm at the elbow). No points taken for any of these infractions.

Bully boy got bullied. Nothing to cry over.

I love all the "Mike Tyson is the most savage fighter, baddest man on the planet", yet when the going gets tough, he turns into the biggest ***** on the planet. Ow, he headbutted me. Booo hooooo, but I'm baaaad. Just soft and fragile.

Especially considering the way he would charge in to his opponent. In the 1st fight Mike even butted himself intentionally to try and get out of the asswhipping he knew was coming. He then immediatly asks to see the ring doctor.

It was an interesting fight. A case where Evander had to work hard to gain experience because of his lack of one punch power, and Mike being a bit overrated at this point. And Evander being stronger than what people thought and in the end sort of out muscling Tyson.

That was a big factor in the fight and nobody gave Commander Vander any respect for that, going in. I guess everyone was listening to Bobby Czyz. But Evander always was the stronger guy. And smarter on the inside. Much the better balance on the inside and it wasn't long into the fight he was muscling Tyson off him and shoving him away.

I guess it was just the fact the guy was a former cruiser, so therefore he couldn't possibly outmuscle Tyson was the rationale. But if you watched their career's closely, it was hardly a surprise.

I recently viewed the second fight with the sound down and what was glaringly obvious, and I hadn't really noticed before, was just how strong Evander was compared to Mike! It was almost like man v boy in there.

You know . Dirty tough fighting intentionally or not is part of boxing. Protect yourself at all times. Little heart Mikey would be run out of the ring pfp by a Zivic, Greb, Pedroza, Holyfield... oh yeah. He was.

Mike Tyson wasn't close to being the baddest man post-prison. And I haven't seen too many people ever claim that he was (except maybe at the time leading up to the first Holyfield fight, as he looked decent against Bruno and Seldon).

What a useless thread. Cry me a river over somebody giving Tyson a taste of his own medicine. What a joke. He was in a man's fight, and for this supposed man's man, he sure couldn't take what he was used to giving out.

I see nothing that is obviously a calculated foul there, but Evander was good at disguising them. Even so everything probably wasn't intentional. But a bit of smart fouling is part of the pro game, whether we like it or not. Most greats had their special stuff in that department.

Ironically, I have seen few so played by it as Holy in the first fight with Bowe. Holy is boxing beautifully in the first round and Bowe seems a bit taken with the occasion, but then he hits Holy on the break and Evander gets mad and starts slugging with him. Starting the beginning of the end.

Agree 100% And is the main reason In my point of view he would lose to fighters like Liston, Foreman, and esp Ali. And maybe fighters like Frazier, Prime Holmes, prime Bowe, Fighters who were just as intimidating, had the skills and size to back it up, and would show him no quarter. Tyson had the skill set to be the G.O.A T. But showed multiple times that when the heat was truly on him, he looked for ways out. The typical bully.

So true. There should be a way for this post to show up on every Tyson thread ad infinitum.
