You're a funny guy Sully. Robinson fought LHW Champion Joey Maxim within 6 weeks of knocking out Rocky Graziano at MW. I don't how long his camp was but it wouldn't have been any longer than the 4 weeks Golovkin had to fight another MW with a 12-0 record. Could you ever see GGG going up and fighting any of the 175 pound champs on 4 weeks notice , or at all? I don't. This guy wouldn't even entertain the idea of facing B level Zorro Ramirez just 6 pound north ffs. A real Mexican warrior would have dared to be great and gave the fans a real drama show against Ramirez on May 6th. But he never had it in him to chase greatness or look for challenges so he fights second choice inactive 154 pounder Vanes after shamefully trying to face some welter weight kid nobody ever heard of. You must set your standards a little higher for this guy if you want to compare him to former P4P greats. Day Time Drama Show.
I liked both and I picked Loma to beat Rigo to. In fact I pick Loma to beat anyone in the world 130 and down and probably even 135 and down with the only exception possibly being Garcia.
Canelo did not fight him as soon as he was free lol he fought 3 fights after cotto and all of them were voluntary he was free to fight GGG the whole time and chose not to. Matter of fact Canelo promised to fight him after Khan then ducked. Martinez's promoter Dibella went on record in the ring after a fight and said the would not let martinez fight GGG and repeated it in several interviews. GGG was Felix Sturms Mandatory challenger since 2010 Sturm did not move up in weight until May of 2015.
Different era, different circumstances. GGG is 37 years old. Sugar robinson was still relatively young and fresh in that time when he fought Maxim on short notice. GGG has fought two young men in their prime back to back, wall to wall, who were on the most potent form of synthetic performance drugs a chemist could ever produce. He took them on, and made them quiver with fear and retreat in order to survive the onslaught. Tell me, what man has made Canelo cower away in fear, not once but twice? This is all unprecedented and why his name will forever go alongside other great middleweights.
I get your point, although your timing's off: there was over two months between the fights. However, unfortunately those days seem to be long gone, I can't see any of the top p4p guys doing something comparable these days. Floyd & Pac were the best fighters of this era but neither ever took such a risk.
well it always about the other fighter isnt it, its about sturm, then sergio, then canelo, the BJ...and yet it was 3g who only stepped up to a world title challenge in 2014 at the age of 32 (33?). and yet.... all these other fighters took a world title MUCH younger than 3G did it. Who is the real culprit for delaying their career here? Was it all there fault that 3g wasnt tilting for a world title until 2014? or was it about 3g himself? How on earth can you get things so wrong, so as to blame 3G's career choices on OTHERs every time? if he was his mando how on earth did he keep the title 5 years without objection from the organisation? bit of an obvious lie there mate. dont get me wrong, I respect 3G as a solid ko artist, but if you tell lies about him, you only ruin his image, you dont help it - thats why I am objecting! dont tarnish the image of 3G please!
Wait, so when Canelo dropped the belt, he "vacated lie a b****" now GGG does it, and all of a sudden it's a noble gesture? LOL Some of you GGGirls are pathetic hypocrites.
if you open with a lie, your post is not going to be taken seriously. try rewriting it without that, it will sound better.
I remember the cries about Mayweather being greedy and I told fools that money is the only thing that matters. Guys said , " No Willie, GGG is about legacy." Now that a relatable face is selling out for the money, its all to the good. I don't blame him but it was always a lie people chose to believe and argue about.
