Why wasn't Calzaghe given more credit for his wins against RJJ and Hopkins?

Unfortunately, whatever the circumstances were, those fights happened too late. Especially vs. Jones. Beating that version hopkins was still very impressive although the fight itself was ugly.

 

-one thing is blatantly obvious in this thread. Not one slappiite offers any argument to my " 75% of Calzaghe's blows were ILLEGAL SLAPS not PUNCHES!!! One reason he never left Britain he got away with it there.. The Hopkins fight had Cortez as ref Say No More !!!!!!!

 

ys its odd how calzaghe is alone in history as trying to claim his career pinnacle is beating 2 fortysomethings. Thats a bottom of the barrel claim to fame. The man is clearly a backdoor hall o famer.

 

I think that there are some posters who never forgave Calzaghe for beating the top American SMWs of his era and for then going to America and beating the legends that fought in the same era as him.
Many picked Jones to beat Calzaghe and it was a big fight at the time.

So what you're now saying is your reply to his direct question about Calzaghe on a Calzaghe thread was really intended for the 6 other posts (most of em your own) in the thread at the time, not really his specifically & nor was it necessarily aimed at Calzaghe? Yeah that makes total sense!

Most know the reason some do not give Calzaghe full credit for beating Roid and Hopkins, don't need to say it.................at least he came to America to fight them as they would not come to UK or Wales..............
