The claim was made by Ferdie P in The Fight Dr Book.

I am willing to bet it will be “Greek” to him.

It's also in the Ali book by Jonathan Eig.I find it highly unlikely that Ali was going to confirm this ,especially since he was married at the time! Some people beggar belief!

Not a good source. Ferdie P comes off as a clown in interviews. The guy was beyond loyal to Ali, and I think said this to excuse Norton badly beating him.

Then why would people close to him say it, surely the wife would have heard? Answer best given, they wouldn't!

If it was one hour before the fight and Ali wasn't there everybody would have known. The promoter, the tv people, the commission, they'd all be upset. There is no way that Ali was driven to the fight, had a pre fight physical, had his hands wrapped etc. in less than an hour. That story doesn't even work as an excuse because Ali did about as well in that fight with Norton as he did in the other two.

Are you, who have never provided a primary source in your time here, under the surreal misapprehension that I give a good **** what you think?

It's not often Ali went toe to toe with opponents, so it's interesting to see the instances he did. Even at close quarters he looks so relaxed. Smooth in his movements and doesn't waste any unnecessary juice. This is of course a lot because of his sheer natural ability, but I think he also practiced it a fair bit more in sparring than he used it in fights.

The fight against Lewis is another where he's the aggressor for large parts. Also love how he walks Quarry down in the final rounds of their rematch.

    1.Who say's it's an excuse?
    2.Why would Eig offer one?
3.You don't even know where the sex took place.
    2 and 2 makes 4 not 5!

After the fight Ali said he hadn't lived right,at the post fight interview he thanked Norton exclaiming,"I needed that ,thank you very much" I was wrong on one count ,it was two hours before the fight.
"The night before the fight Ali attended a party. Two hours before the fight he was in bed with two hookers. They took the mirror off the dresser and propped it next to the bed so they could watch themselves.
They used Reggie Barrett's room at the LeBaron Hotel, hoping to escape Belinda's attention. After an hour had passed Barrett knocked on the door, telling Ali the fight started soon."Oh ****," Ali said,"I gotta take a shower."
    page 345 "Ali." Johnathan Eig.
Now whether you believe Eig whose exhaustively researched book had drawn plaudits from every direction ,is up to you I really couldn't care less.
btw You usually have the pre fight exam in the morning of the fight.

Just read Jerry Izenberg's excellent book ,"Once Were Giants".He is scathing of Young's tactics but thinks he won the fight.

I asked a question, why would people Ali trust say such a thing while he married?

SILENCE from you on that question!

Its a bogus source, I don't forward any primary source with no evidence attached to it, you do.

A primary source would be the loser of most decisions, when asked do you think you won it. See how silly you are to use such bunk?

Ali lost that fight badly, and if he was with a hooker an hour before the fight, he must have checked in to the dressing room, showered, changed out of street clothes, put on his boxing gear, got the instructions from the ref, warmed up, and had someone fro the other camp signing off he was clean in record time!

Obviously. But McVey doesn't follow logic. He likes to regurgitated quotes from others on fighters he likes. Like you said if Ali was missing, they would have known. The real story if the fight is Noton broke Ali's jaw and won it cleanly.

Has it not occurred to your tiny mind that both the books in which it is mentioned in some detail, were written after Ali was divorced from Belinda ,in fact the Eig book was written recently? God you are hard work!
