He was afraid of all of these little guys but he moved up to 175 to fight Kovalev?

    Such weak silly reasoning.

He rolled the dice with the Kovalev fight whilst ensuring that all the cards where in his favor. However doesn't mean he didn't duck previous opponents.

He wanted nothing to do with Bute

Andre Ward “I don’t want to disrespect Bute, but he sat back and waited facing B and C level guys while I was fighting against tough Super Six guys. In my opinion he needs to beat an A level guy before fighting me. He doesn’t deserve the chance.”

Isn't this what Amir khan did to Brook and many here are in agreement that he was ducking?

Hey man, I 'm just wondering why a guy who fought Kessler, Froch and Kovalev is ducking:

    1. A middleweight

    2. A guy who beat the crap out of Bute

    3. A guy who is supposed to be afraid of Kovalev.

I've already given my explanation as to why he ducked Bute.

It's all laid out for you if you read my response to Kirk.

    LOL

It was all good until you said he was ducking Mr. "I'll fight anyone from 154-168!" (except Lara, Ward, Andade, Derevyanchenko, Ramirez, Charlo...)

You do realise Ward offered to fight GGG knowing he was already contracted to fight Lemuiex?

GGG has always been willing to get in the ring with anyone providing the time and date is realistic enough for him to be able to train and prepare.

5 years ago when asked he if wanted to fight Ward, GGG's response was ''let's go''

Yet we know when Ward attempted to smear his name and make out that he was ducking, we found out the offer was insulting and unrealistic as it clashed with the dates of the GGG vs Lemiuex fight. Not to mention he was expecting for GGG to wait until Ward had enough tune up fights before actually fighting.

Ward knew it would get rejected. He used the same tactic by proposing stupid offers to Kovalev, yet Sergey called his bluff and accepted his ridiculous low ball offer twice by he was so determined to punish him for the way he and his trainer had insulted him and his Country. It went beyond boxing at that point.

Fighting Ward wasn't personal for GGG so it didn't matter too much if the fight didn't materialize. We know if you are a threat, then you have to push hard to get a fight with Ward since he never wished to get his hands dirty unnecessarily.

This was years before Kovalev, this was after Stevenson beat Chad Dawson.

I bet on Ward to beat Kovalev both fights. Nothing against Ward but look it up.

Stevenson said 168 in Oakland only stipulation is rematch at 175 in Canada. Andre Ward refused to sign

No, I agree that Ward did not want to fight Stevenson, this is public record, GGG or Bute though? No, no dice.

    But he did duck Bute.

During the Super Six he was claiming Bute was the guy to beat once the Super Six would be over. Then when Bute tried to get a fight against him after the S6 (and mind you, he was the biggest fight out there for Ward) he was claiming Bute didn't deserve the chance, he had to beat A level guys first, then he claimed he wanted a break, then an shoulder injury...

Let's be real, a lot a people ducked Bute. Kessler, Pavlik and Ward.

Kessler was ringside for the Magee fight because they were about to set up the fight but then oups Kessler claimed not enough money to be made.

Pavlik signed a contract and what? One month before the fight he decided 1M$ was chump money and walked out.

Bute had skills and power. Unfortunately his mandible was weak and it got cracked in a fight that Froch was wise to take, it reinvigorated his career. Even a past his prime Bute was giving Degale and Jack a lot of trouble.

    Of course he ducked him.

He was trying to use Direll as a human shield in hope that he would be beat Bute. Fortunately for Ward, already Froch took care of Bute

He ducked Bute, Stevenson, GGG and drug testing when mandated to do so before the Rodriguez fight and again rejected additionally testing before the kovalev fight, while under the tutelage of one the most notorious steroid peddlers in the history of sport.

The man has no true credibility as far as I and many others are concerned. How can you retire on the back of a fight you won cheating?

I put this charlatan alongside Canelo as both have used the art of using smoke and mirrors to flatter and deceive many into believing they are greater than they are whilst pretending to be great role models.

Disgusting characters who's names should be black listed.

Ward won the Super Six in Dec. of 2011 and Bute got abused by Froch in May of 2012. Ward didn't fight again until September of 2012 when he beat Dawson. Then Bute beat Grachev in Nov of 2012 and took 18 months off before losing to Pascal. No Duck.

Truthfully, who is the best guy Bute ever beat?

    Sakio Bikka?

    Jean-Paul Mendy?

    A washed up Glen Johnson?

    Librado Andrade?

You are intentionally missing the point.

It's not about how good Bute was or if he would have been capable of beating Ward.

The fact is he was the unbeaten champ with a fearsome reputation, and begged Ward for a fight and Ward wasn't interested at all.

So Bute ended up fighting Froch instead.

Ward played politics throughout his whole career. He was bound to duck a handful of fighters.
