I'd quite like to see him go fight him in Russia, but the money for the fight is in the UK.

Povetkin just fought on Joshua's undercard, I think it's safe to assume the money is there. It won't go to purse bid anyway.

He should go to Russia and make a metric ****- ton of money. Wlad showed a pretty easy to copy prototype to beat Povetkin (assuming you have the size and athleticism for it)

povetkin would be crazy to go to the uk right now, given the political situation and the notorious british home town judging/stoppages.

AJ goes to Moscow, knocks out Povetkin, then holds court in the Kremlin with Putin. That's what Alphas do.

It's pretty impossible to imagine this goes to purse bid...but if it does Russian money is snapping up this fight. There's no doubt about it. You can talk about where the fight "should" be all you want, but rubles are taking this thing.

If AJ refuses to go, he hands over the belts. Simple as that.

he could walk around that little island calling himself the peoples champ or whatever. Make fights with the Fury goons and Hayemaker. Is Chisora still alive?

It hasn't happened yet, I raised this issue a few weeks ago after Parker and was told by a few people on here Povetkin side had already agreed to come to the UK.

This is the same Povetkin Team that agreed to fight Whyte seconds after David Price then said "NO" a day or two later.

Anyway, It was and still is a real possibility, from what I'm hearing Joshua will more than likely vacate if they lose a purse bid, Hearn didn't seem keen on going to Russia whatsoever, very telling was he mentioned the drug testing in Russia in one interview I watched.

This is why I believe Hearn is starting to sound a little desperate to make the Wilder fight right now and wants a face to face interview in the US.

It could cost Hearn a fortune to get Povetkin over here so Wilder might actually be the cheaper option then hopefully unify all the belts and then AJ can vacate a couple and start the process again.

Fighters like Fury and Whyte can fight for vacate titles and then have huge unifications with Joshua (all assuming he wins these fights).

The reality is there is no real reason to drag out this Wilder fight right now, if a deal can be made it should be made because a Povetkin purse bid could be very expensive just to delay the inevitable and delay what they want to achieve.

Or worse case scenario Hearn loses a purse bid and they say "we are not going to russia" and vacate the belt and after all this hard work and have to take a big step backwards.

Why are British boxers suddenly seen as 'protected'?

Remind me, how many times did Mayweather fight outside the US?

Excluding all the UK/Russia nonsense....which could actually prevent Joshua travelling to Russia.
(I'm talking about legal stuff, not 'ducking').

Why would team Povetkin want the fight in Russia?

The money is in the UK.

Must be a Wilder fan, or a fan of one of Joshua's past opponents.

If he just wanted to earn $$$ and wasn't serious about becoming undisputed, why would he go after other belts?

He could've kept his IBF, and let Povetkin/Parker/Whyte etc go after the IBO/WBO/WBA belts.

That would be interesting. Going to Russia would probably be a mad move, imo. I really hope I am wrong but I just feel AJ fighting Povetkin is very dangerous. I hope AJ is better than I think he is and maybe Povetkin is aged more than I think or turns in a Huck type performance, but if Povetkin comes in on top of his game and in top form I just think AJ is really going to have some issues in there.
