While he is a bumbling idiot , the guys raw power is downright legit. Ortiz rematch would be hot but its not gonna happen. Luis is defo not a journeyman but most folks on that resume is.
Wilder is playing to his strengths. Nothing wrong with that. Yeah, it might seem a risky approach to rely solely on KOs. You would think he'll eventually come across someone he can't KO... but I don't know if I believe that. I don't think anyone would have the chin to do that. Who has the strongest chin right now? Dave Allen is famous for it, but Ortiz still easily stopped him. Perhaps someone could be elusive enough to pull it off? Maybe. But Wilder isn't as cautious as, say, Wlad. And if Wilder isn't super cautious and is willing to take a few risks to land something, I don't see anyone completely avoiding Wilder for 12 full rounds. Another possibility is that Wilder will get himself injured to the point he loses his KO power. We saw that against a shitty opponent (Stiverne) and Wilder still coasted to a comfortable UD with a conventional jab. Could Wilder do that against a better opponent? Perhaps not, but then anyone could lose via injury so it's silly to single Wilder out for that. I think it's more likely Wilder could just get blasted out himself before he can land a big hit. Almost happened with Ortiz, and a very strong chance it would happen with AJ.
so every time he has been put on wonky street it's been part of his plan? when Molina had him doing the skanky leg it was just a ruse? when Haye almost put him to sleep in sparring it was just a ploy? Wow Wilder is a genius.
...No? AJ tried to outbox and KO Whyte and AJ still got rocked at one point. Wilder has a risky style and sometimes he gets tagged. In the end Wilder still wins decisively and doesn’t need to pay off the judges to do it.
apart from the ref vs Ortiz and the extra recovery time eh? ooh and what about the behind the head punches he gets away with every fight? hypocrisy.
It's already illegal to hit behind the ears. He has power but people factor in his illegal punches in their belief in his power.
