    Jack Johnson

I already have the trailer in mind.

Queue the start of Nina Simones "Feeling Good"

Johnsons POV looking at his shoes while walking down the arena aisle.
As the camera pans up, you see a roar of 1910's clad white faces drowned in a buzz of the human sounds you would expect from the crowds of a gladiator fight.
The POV camera starts slowly down the aisle.
It cuts to the left. and in slow motion you see a group of angry white men in their 20's/30's looking into the camera POV, red with anger, shouting, spit coming out of their mouths.
The camera cuts to other sections of the crowd revealing more scenes of angry racism.

The camera cuts back to the ring, at feet level, revealing a boxer with black legs.
The camera shifts up, and up, and up, and up.
Until it finally reveals the captivating face of a man with a serious demeanor.

Nina Simone finally says "And I'm feeeeling Gooooood"

The serious demeanor suddenly shifts to a humorous grin, with the sea of angry white faces as the backdrop.
The title "Jack Johnson" comes up, while the trumpets blare.

I think a dramatized version of the fight between Corbett and Fitzsimmons (with some of the events leading up to it), would but be a very good film. A lot going on around it.

I think trying to cover too much in a film, like a whole life story, can just make for less interesting viewing, as it has to skip over a lot of bits, oversimplify, and I think the film ends up feeling more distant and less personal.

Tom Molineaux could be a good movie, if a pretty depressing one.

If we're talking profit margins then there's no other choice than Floyd Mayweather.

Nobody sells like Floyd Mayweather in this day and age, pretty obvious choice!

Don’t let that guy from New Zealand direct it. He’d have Peter the Great fighting like a hobbit.

    I didn't say it'd be a good film.

But if you think a film about any other boxer, would sell better than one about him, right now in this day and age....then you're deluded

Yeah. No to Peter Jackson. He already ruined LOTR with his complete lack of vision and his terrible understanding of the source material.

David Lynch, please. Or a prime Stanley (who filmed a pretty awesome boxing scene in one of his earlier pictures).

A film needs a story line.

    What would it be?

"There was this guys who was better than his contemporaries, and he avoided fighting the ones who might pose a significant threat, when they would have been a significant threat. By this method he was never seriously tested, and made a lot of money, which he spent on tasteless artifacts!"

the greatest director who ever lived could never make that interesting, or worth avoiding a trip to the dentist to see!
