The problem is that the vast majority of posters on here and similar sites all believed Jacobs to be extremely overrated going into the fight with Golovkin. What a 180 that one night caused all of them to do. To those folks, once again the vocal majority, they should be the ones downplaying Golovkin's performance and expressing shock and awe by the competitive nature of the fight... I always felt Jacobs was good and better than anyone credited him for but boy did I take a hammering on this site for years for feeling that way! Now a complete 180 later and people are talking up Jacobs like he's a HOF'er ("but he lost, OK, clearly lost, cute effort but 100% lost, not controversial, OK bro?!").

    Not close.

Jacobs, Geale, Murray, Lemieux certainly his top wins. Several others likely rank higher as well. Vanes hasn't fought in a couple years, coming off a loss as is the result in all of his top fights, and is a junior middleweight... I sort of feel like he was planning to retire or basically already had and the possibility of one last check showed up in his voicemail so he snatched it.

Beaten him? Maybe. But I don't think there's a MW in history that just walks through Golovkin.

    Whoa. Back up a bit.

Most of the posters here thought Jacobs was a real quality fighter that hit freaking hard ... but who was hampered by a small gas tank and glass chin. The fight against GGG did enough to prove that we were wrong about the gas tank and the chin. I still think he may be the #2 MW right now.

I know you have a poster of Anthony Mundine hanging above your bed and Geale whipped him, but the truth is the truth. Geale was a quality operator. I'd love for you to list all the other Golovkin opponents who were better than Geale was.

The irony is, if Geale was so crap ... then how useless does that imply Mundine was?

Mundine was 38 when Geales beat him.
I rate Murray, Monroe, Stevens, Lemeiux, Macklin, Rosado, Proska and obviously Canelo and Jacobs above Danni No Mas Geales.

I am a Mundine fan but make no illusions about his abilities. Mundine was at his best at super middle. The first time he fought Geales he was already 34 years old had just moved down to middle weight dropped an undefeated Geales and won a close decision.

Jacob was a decent defence. Its ridiculous for someone to question it.

Charlo is afraid of Jacobs and everyone knows it. Instead Charlo fights a cripple, then Pee Wee Herman! Jacobs would have knocked both of them out easily!

its too early to consider anyone in HoF when they are in the bloom of their career.

be fair and wait till 3g, or anyone, retires before passing judgement over them.

there are hardly any exceptions to this - perhaps someone who beats a legend, like frazier did, you know they make hof straight after the fight. or manny and money just before they retired. funny how their nicknames how so similar.

HOF isnt really an accomplishment that hard (I mean relatively speaking) GGG has the achievements to get in it, not comfortably and not without argument but he can be inducted.
