That's like 6:30 mile pace for 6 miles. Which obviously isn't even close to a world class running time, but damn that's fast as hell for a guy who doesn't specialize in running. Especially a guy who walks around over 6' 180 pounds. You ever seen a world class race? The top finishers probably don't feature a guy who weighs more than 140 pounds. Under 40 minutes for 6 miles is pretty damn fast. I used to run track and I never raced a hard 6 miles. But I wouldn't be surprised if Froch could approach or even run a sub 4:30 mile with a 6 mile time like that. That would have been good enough to place 2nd at the County Championships my senior year. And those are guys who all they do is train to run the mile faster. Obviously we're comparing them to a pro athlete like Froch, but still, Goddamn Froch. That's an extremely fast time. I can't say that I'm surprised that Froch could pound the pavement like that. We've never seen him tire in a fight. His conditioning is legendary. And it seems like in every fight he ever had he was the superior conditioned athlete. Including his fight with Ward who is praised for his stamina. Ward was the one starting to tire and gas a little in the 12th round and Froch looked like he needed a 15 rounder.

Every morning at 615 AM....Onslow Beach - 2ND MEU- FSSG- Camp Lejeune N Cakalaki....combat boots mandatory, Daisy Dukes optional, OD Green cup neck T mandatory. 4 miles 3 abreast formation, 2+ miles of liberty. Aaaaauouououorrrrryaaa. 29 men and a freckled ginger built like Anne Wolf.... 6+ on sand in combat boots. Not a Sailor or Marine out for the muster at 7 am. Not saying Carl ain't keeping sharp. He's a brick wall will a deisel engine, but none of us in Bravo Co. were elite runners except John, who regularly ran 10Ks under 30 minutes
WOW!!!! That would kill me quickly after the second mile (20 years ago) When I was in my early 2o’s I was doing 2 miles at 14 1/2 minuets Today I might hit a mile in 10 minuets
For a former professional athlete I wouldn't expect anything less than a sub 7 min mile time. I usually run sub 8 on my Sunday run and that's faster than 99% of the runners I see out on the streets. Anyone going sub 7 I expect to be a club runner, so yeah that's impressive, but as I said for a pro athlete that's run of the mill.
I ran 4:37 when I running track and field. I was skinny as a rail, built like Nonito Donaire and possessed natural ability. Froch would probably go faster as a muscular dude. For a guy in his 20s and early 30s anybody of normal weight and who regularly runs, a sub 7 minute mile should be done with ease. Once you start approaching sub 5 you're getting into club runner territory.
didn't froch say that apart from sparring, the running was a big part of his training I think he said it was due to all the running he'd been doing that he was able to finish taylor off in the last round
No, I don't think 6 miles at 6:30 pace equates to being capable of doing a 4:30 mile. That just doesn't sound at all right to me.
I was a swimmer but I saw my brother run a 4:30 mile in track and field. He looked like he was sprinting the entire 4 laps, pretty sick. What’s even crazier is that today we have 18 year olds running sub 4:00. Now those are some freaks of nature.
It's possible, but highly unlikely. my 10k (6.2 miles) PB is 40:57 while my mile PB is 5.49 6 miles is far, but for anyone for decent stamina they wont race it a full 2 mins (per mile) slower than their mile time
