As much as I despise AB and hope that he gets brutally planked, I do believe that he has the natural talent and qualities to be a force. He's insanely durable and possesses above average speed with above average power. If he'd only let his hands go from the opening bell, I believe that he could have taken out Mikey Garcia and Jessie Vargas. He hurt them both late in the fight. It seems like he only follows this plan once he knows that he's well behind on the scorecards.

AB might be Top 5 @ 140 (weak division) and 6-10 @ 147, but he'll always be a dangerous proposition (dropped Porter).

    Same old rhetoric with Broner.

He struggles with the likes of Granados and Vargas because that IS his level.

And after each fight he says how hes gonna finally start taking things seriously.
Before the Maidana fight, Broner said that had he worked as hard for Paulie as he did for Maidana, he would have KOd Paulie. Then he said the same thing about Maidana and pretty much everyone else.

Define 'Problem'. He might be competitive, he might even beat one of the 140 up & comers but he's becoming a gatekeeper to be honest. Id pick Taylor, Prograis & Ramirez to beat him at 140 & those guys are still improving.

He's tough, durable & carries a bit of power but he hasn't evolved enough for someone who won a world title when he was what? 22/23? I haven't checked but the same Broner who got outworked by Ponce De Leon is still evident today. The odd flashy combo, left hook or uppercut mixed in with cement feet & lazy rounds whilst shaking his head every time he eats a clean shot.

Broner's issue is always going to be the same.. Hes extremely gunshy at times and waits until to damn late to let his hands go.. Amongst other things of course. Cant really comment on the Vargas fight however as I missed it.

Not much of a problem for the top welters at all.

AB has durability + elite speed + above average power. If he increases his workrate from the opening bell, he's a problem for cats from 140-147. Mikey and Vargas were both hurt by him when he let his hands go.

But he's never improved his work rate, there must be a reason. If it were that simple, he'd have done it & the more he lets go the more he's vulnerable to counters which IMO is why his punch output was really low vs Garcia. He looked disinterested but he was probably aware of being countered.

He raised the tempo late but Broner has never sustained that for 6 rounds, let alone 12.

He has physical tools, applying them is a different matter.

There were plenty of non elites in the HOF, doesn't change the fact that AB will be in it.

Agree w/ this. But I think that if he opened up his offense, that will make the other guy less willing to tee off on him. He has to do it, though. He busted Mikey and Vargas up late.

I think he's better walking fighters down & applying pressure but he wants to be the 'boxer'. Can he change? He has good uppercuts and body work, make it a fight but he either sees himself as a 'boxer' or doesn't believe/want to apply the work/output it would take to be the pressure fighter he might need to be.
