Yeah, could also be that he gets hurt often, but has the ultimate poker face. Never seen him hurt aside from Maidana.

Has to be something. I watched him get outworked by PDL early in career, Broner was sharper, way bigger & had more power so lack of output in a fight like that can't be concern for getting hurt. It comes across as lazy to be honest. But he has never changed or evolved, just got bigger.

I don't think Broner ever truly tried to develop as his own fighter but wanted to be this ''Mayweather clone'' shoulder roll fighter but is a poorer copy with porous defense, worse movement and less accuracy. When he actually tried to throw punches without that shoulder roll stuff he boxes better.

I think attempting to be this defensive mastermind which reduces the output of his opponent doesn't really work for him. I think stepping out of Floyd's shadow is the best idea and being his own fighter rather than some cheap imitation.

He's not elite but most aren't.

He can be a problem, he can provide a tough fight, but that don't mean he's gonna win.

The first 4 division titlist that may not make it to the HOF actually,

He loses to people and struggles with people that he has clear
athletic and even skillset advantages then. He's a hopeless underachiever

He's always fun to watch, that for sure and as much as you hate him, he's got balls and is down to scrap. It seems he's trying to counter punch, when he should be takin the lead he's not designed that way. I think his gifts and skill level would be much better suited to bringing pressure.. He does not seem to fade down the stretch, so he could probably pull off a higher workmates. But I doubt at this stage he's able to make that kinda change .

In the right weightclass with the right dedication he could've
been light years ahead. He's definitely an underachiever.

Got to be a 4 weight world champion because he literally beat up midgets for the first half of his career.

Then went life and death with Paulie ' hands of stone' Maglignaggi ffs.

If it wasn't for the support he gets he wouldn't get past national level. Very average fighter at world level.

Not with his style...I've said it many times, until he understands and embraces what his talents are he'll never be successful. He isn't a "boxer", he isn't "cute", and he isn't that great defensively. He should be pressuring opponents and swarming them with combinations, that's when he's at his best. When he would walk Vargas down and get him to the ropes, and let his hands go...there was no question who the better fighter was. He can't fight the way he wants to fight because he isn't able to transition from offense to defense well or with any fluidity. Let your dang hands go man...I mean it's really that simple.

He is a problem for a lot of the top guys.

    1. Anyone packing glass could go down hard. Broner has deceptive power.
    2. He hasnt hit his peak yet / fulfilled his potential. You never know, it's unlikely but he could hit another level.
    3. His style is favourable with judges. Flashy combos, head up, clean punching, a lot of judges score this over head down more "messy" punchers. Think SRL against Hagler.

He seemed to just look lazy the whole fight with Vargas.

Fully agree. He has better output when he opens up.
