I think Louis would win the battle of jabs, and on the inside his short, compact combinations would be unlike anything Johnson ever encountered.

Johnson never saw an animal like Louis. The speed and whipping power of his 4 and 5 punch combos. It may easy to parry one-two hitters coming in and out in straight lines, needless to say guys who telegraph from the back row, but Louis is a different universe.

 

Jack Johnson would have won the internet if he were around.

I just don't see Johnson giving Louis to range to ever throw these 4 to 5 punch combos. Louis might have the savvy to win a close decision on the cards, or Johnson might be able to stink his way to a dull and lacklustre victory. You better believe Louis would come out all guns blazing in a rematch though and I'd fully back him in a second fight. Throwing caution to the wind early on might be Louis best method to victory.

 

The best jabber of Johnson's time was considered to be Denver Ed Martin with his over 80" reach,Johnson ko'd him for 15 minutes ,there was concern he might have fatally injured him.

Favre arguably had his best year in a Vikings jersey in his last season. Manning and Brady are also perfect examples. Bryant and Jordan could still do it at an old age. For a 24 year old Brit to come up with such obvious examples of American sports stars shows there's more than the odd exception to the rule and it is entirely situational. Ronaldo is still putting up freakish numbers at 33 and has very few signs of slowing down. Buffon is 40 came very close to making a champions league semi final. Roger Federer is 36 and has only just been knocked off the top spot of the rankings. Wlad was nearly 40 he fought Joshua. Vitali into his 40s when he retired.

joe takes a points decision. Much as Jack would frustrate him, joe is too precise and his combos are going land enough to take it.
