If you ask yourself "What, who?": This thread isn´t about Cleveland or Carl Williams. We are talking about the Superheavyweight Williams here, introduced by choklab.

    12 Rounds.

"Tiger Williams, if you watch him, is better than anybody Wilder has beat." I might change my vote too. This guy could have KO Wilder. A true SHW he was.

Ortiz probably outclasses Williams fairly easily.

Ortiz would be too much. Williams did his best work in sparring camps.

If you watch Tiger against Larry (fully recognising how great Larry was) then there is absolutely no evidence on film or otherwise showing that Ortiz could duplicate that. And this takes into account the confirmed drugs cheating that has helped developed Ortiz into what he became.

That must be because Ortiz has already fought somebody as good as a prime Larry Holmes...

The guy was a drug cheat who failed to produce the goods. An old prospect.

Guys, I don't wish to rain on anyone's parade here, but over the past two years or so there seems to be a bit of a groundswell surrounding the myth of Roy Tiger Williams. Well, let me tell ya, I was a total gym rat beginning in the early '70s and knew every rumor of every prospect, journeyman and contender. I drank up every morsel, if you will, of information on everyone related to the game and can tell you for a fact that Tiger Williams was on no one's radar. It was like JohnThomas said, he was a sparring partner, nothing more. Maybe badass in the gym, but where it counted he never produced. My God, he was bedazzled by Richard Dunn of all people. The only thing that ever surprised me in his limited career was stopping Walter Moore - a Chicago prospect who was being brought along by Ernie Terrell, whom I think jumped ship and got stopped by Tiger in Vegas. That's all, man. The rest is myth.

He knocked out top 10 Bryant Jennings who went 12 close rounds with ATG Wladimir Klitschko

Who the heck did tiger Williams ever beat? Oh wait. He couldn’t even beat that hack Richard Dunn

Ortiz would beat him, I didnt think much of Tiger Williams , let me put this in prespective, he lost to Richard Dunn L8 who was Ko'd in 11 of his 12 loses.

Ortiz acually KO'd someone when he stopped BRYANT JENNINGS

Williams had a tired Shavers almost out until he got KO'd late

I know the hype about Williams but he was no standout

Roy was just a big, tough, moderately skilled street dude. Athletic? Yes. Strong? Yes. Natural talent and height? Yes and yes. Could he have been something with a better trainer and management to guide him along? Absolutely. He won a golden gloves tournament and received high praise from the top pros and trainers in sparring matches, that counts for something.

Had a hell of a nail biting fight with contender Earnie Shavers. If you havent seen it, go for it. I guarrantee you'll be entertained. But the fact he was beaten by holmes isnt why people are dismissing his chances as holmes is an ATG and top 10-15 hw of all time. He lost to Richard freaking dunn. Dunn was a mediocre feather fisted bum who was koed in 1 by the gunshy mediocre bugner and a past his prime ali.

You know the saying, 3 strikes and youre out. And Roy lost to the 3 best fighters he faced. Boxing is about what youve DONE, not your ABILITY or "what could have been". What Roy did was put on exciting fights with his rudimentary skill and exciting aggresive punching. Thats it. If he didnt have the mentality to apply whatever amazing skills he displayed in sparring to ranked matches thats his problem. A C+/B- level journeyman at best.

Ortiz was blatantly ducked for years by the top contenders and given step aside money. He had an excellent amateur career and KOed guys ranked in the top 10. Closest thing weve had to a southpaw heavyweight champ since michael moore 15 years ago. In terms of skill, experience, and power ortiz is STILL a top 5 heavyweight despite his recent loss. Hed have at least a 60/40 if not 50/50 chance against nearly any prior hw based on size/skill/power/etc. Cant say the same for Roy.

Funny, you fail too mention Ortiz two positive drug tests for PEDs in 2014 and 2016...which obviously had an effect on him getting top fights

Amazing how many PED fighters get a pass for using
