Just like he did the first time... Of course...He's improved since then, and manages to keep himself off the mat in the opening half of the fight when stepping up in competition now. I mean, that's what he managed to do against...Oh, wait, never mind.
Mendy is a step up from Campbell, and he looks to have improved from the form he displayed the first time against LC. Different verse, same as the first.
I think Luke Campbell made so many fans on here when he fought Linares,he was dropped early on and we thought that’s it but he not only gets up,he actually starts to win rounds off an elite guy.
Styles make fights. Mendy's tendency to sharp-shoot with a couple of punches at a time doesn't necessarily match up that well with Linares's tighter defense and more combo based style. But if he brings his A game, and lands something early, you never know. But Mendy's style that I think works very well against Campbell, who isn't as refined as Nino del Oro. Campbell also brought his A game against Linares...and lost. That pretty much establishes where he's at, I think.
I could understand the whole 'Brought his A game and lost' if it wasn't close...... Without the KD, Linares didn't win the fight. Campbell's experience from that fight would do him the world of good. A 50/50 fight with Linares but for 1 KD.
I had it a little wider for Linares on my second viewing. Really good fight and a gutsy performance, but you have to wonder if Campbell can replicate it consistently from here on out. Meanwhile, Mendy's been waiting for his chance at a title and I think raises his game as a result against anyone who either has a belt or stands in his way of getting there. It's a good match, though. Looking forward to it.
This is a great rematch that's marinated with time(Campbell's current run and gutsy performance against Linares and Mendy's still unbeaten run(includes popping Campbells cherry) since a loss to Tatli 3 years ago to this very day - a 10-0 run in 3 years! Campbell has certainly improved since the rematch and will be a favorite going in, but it would be unwise to count out Mendy.
No, you blithering nincompoop, that isn't what that means at all. You're assuming connections of logic that have never been stated explicitly by anyone but yourself and do not exist even implicitly. Just because someone praises Fighter A's performance against Fighter D, and says that version of them would beat the version of Fighter B that was competitive with Fighter C, that isn't mutually exclusive with C being >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> D. It still is entirely possible for C to be the best of the bunch. STYLES MAKE FIGHTS. The point is that Fighter A (in this case Mendy) put on a performance that was substantial enough to make him a favorite over Fighter B (that is, Campbell) if he were to replicate that form in a rematch and Campbell were to in turn bring his own A-game. That has NOTHING to do with the inherent worth of Fighter D (Arévalo). NOTHING. You're just assuming it does. You're shoehorning that connection in, but nothing in the language of anything you quoted necessitates that connection. You're forcing it. Your stupid little brain can't read the statements made by Drew or myself without interpolating that connection. STYLES make fights, buddy. You can analyze someone's PERFORMANCE (vis-à-vis the opposition level, to an extent, sure, but also just in a sterile vacuum, the performance itself) and find that informative toward another match-up without implying an exact placement on the better/worse hierarchy of the opponent faced in that performance relative to whoever you're analyzing the hypothetical match-up against. Why are the nuances of this sport lost on so many of you? Oh, right, the clue is right there in your name. Communicating with people this ignorant really is exhausting.
