A boxing journalist confirmed with Adam Smith this is the case. Only fight held on british soil are exclusive between Sky/Matchroom.

If so its massive imo. Pretty much means Hearn/Matchroom wont get anywhere near what they would have and they can offer AJ more money.

Now you can see why Hearn is shitting himself after all the work he has done with AJ, he may be on the sidelines for the biggest fight.

He still has his deal with AJ though?

I don't think they would be too concerned. They would be accessing a new market, which long term is beneficial as they're maxing out the domestic market at present, at least in my view.

Yeah but they wont have their fingers in all the pies like they normally do. Will be just a fee from AJ.

Doesn't really make a difference. They don't take on the costs and as Hearn as showed before he doesn't stand in the way of his fighters getting paid.

I don't know how that's structured obviously, but it seems to me that Hearn has big ambitions in the US which are best served by AJ fighting there and winning over the US market.r

So yes, short term less income than a comparable Wembley fight, longer term more advantageous.

Does explain why Hearn keeps emphasising what they have built up in the UK with AJ. He keeps making that point....

He does but before this he has been trying to get him to America. Now all of a sudden he has a change of heart. Wonder why that is?

Very true but im pretty sure he would want to keep AJ well away from Haymon.

So why is he trying to break the US market then if there is a territorial exclusivity clause in place? It makes no sense....

What change of heart? If and When AJ fights Miller it will be in New York.

He has as announcement planned in two weeks which relates to Matchroom in America. No doubt AJ will be playing a part in that.

Also check every interview AJ has when asked about fighting Wilder in America or UK. AJ always responds he wants it in the UK. Joshua doesn't actually have grand ambitions to fight in the US. His more than content with packing out UK venues.

The exclusivity thing is minor. Matchroom fighters including AJ will fight on Sky. It may not be written in the contract but you are not going to get matchroom promotions in the US not aired on Sky.

    Also very true!

Not sure what Al can offer though, unless he promotes a show where AJ banks 50mn with the promise of more US Ppv goodness to come...

Exactly. Very interesting turn of events imo. AJ will, at the least, have his head turned now.

Americans dont even support their own premier HW champion, so why on earth would they pay PPV to watch a foreign fighter?
