Did Manny have drugs ban on his record? Could Mayweather find anyone to testify? in order: No and seemingly not. Plus they ended up fighting for big money, so overall Floyd financially benefited from settling out of court. Each case is judged on its individual merits. And being able to point at someone and say 'but he's been found guilty of using a prohibited substance' in a libel case centred around allegations of PED use is pretty powerful evidence, when it comes to assessing the defamation or otherwise of a person's character.

Canelo could sue Golovkin for slander and then Golovkin could sue Canelo for more for damages.

Or they could just rematch and make a bunch of money.

Sue for Slander? Are you kidding me? **** clean, get in the ring, handle it like a man. Instead of, "oh he hurt my itty bitty feelings which in turn took some money out of my pocket, I'm going to go tell the judge, Boo-Freakin-hoo". If he dares go that route, the bit of respect I have for Canelo and his amazing boxing skills will be gone and I'd never consider him again.

I'm very dubious about accepting the findings of bodies that sought to exonerate an athlete BEFORE these tests.

Pacquiao-Mayweather wasn't a guarantee (christ, it took 5 years). I'm no lawyer, but my understanding is that the onus was on Pacquiao to prove he was was clean and therefore it was defamation. Going off of this, Pacquiao would only have only moved forward with a suit if he was clean.

In fact, it's the opposite, you have to show a comment which was potentially defamatory can be defended as 'fair comment', in other words you have to show what you said was likely true on the balance of probability. Here's the thing about defamation. We all make defamatory comments all the time. For example if you call a man a thief - and even if he has actually been convicted of theft - your comment is technically still defamatory because it harms his reputation for you to speak about him in this way. But obviously your defence is 'fair comment', that what you said was true, so you would never be prosecuted, clearly. Canelo is a 'convicted' drugs cheat, so it's hard - but not impossible - to defame him in respect of PEDs. I guess if GGG said, Canelo had been cheating all his career and never fought a fight clean, that might be enough to pursue him legally. But he didn't say that, he referred to a period in Canelo's career where he was found to have breached strict liability re: clenbuterol.

By the way, this forum is littered with defamation on a daily basis.... lol

Then why is he not enrolled in the clean boxing program ran by VADA and the WBC?

Well he is currently suspended for PEDs. And the supposed test to clear him was admitted by the lab they paid to test it that it is unreliable. Its also why hair follicule isn't used by WADA as you can literally buy stuff on Amazon for less then $20 to clean traces of banned substances out of your hair.. So yeah good luck with your fishnets fantasy.
