    Yep soccer is huge.

If you're a guy, of any age, and you're not a 'soccer fan', you're considered weird.

The problem is, we love it so much that we demand to see the best players play live.....

So we import all the foreign talent, and neglect our own.

I guess the best analogy would be if all the US promoters went to the Olympics, and signed all the boxers which won a medal.....
If no US boxer won a medal, you're neglecting any US talent that was there.

If you aren't Mexican or a sissy, you are considered weird here if you like soccer.

doesn't your country spend more money on development of futball than any other on Earth?

I guess that 'sissy' thing is similar to what rugby fans over here think of NFL.

This is interesting. So there were potentially penalties for pulling out after all, pretty big ones.

At any rate, Joshua isn't his own representative as far as I'm aware, so nothing he says should have any legal ramifications. On the other hand, Wilder specifically told Joshua himself to agree to the fight, which he did, so the conditions for a meeting were met and Team Wilder reneged.

Essentially then, they're the ones in the wrong here.

In a way yes, but it doesn't really work like that.

The money we spend on buying foreign talent far outweighs what we spend on the development of our own talent.

We value our leagues, higher than our national team.

'Instant success' is everything with Billions of pounds available every year depending on your success.....

So a 26 year old playing well in France, is preferred to an 18 year old Brit who has the potential to be better than the 26 year old.

guess so, but NFL players don't fake injuries every time they are touched like soccer. the NFL and NHL have taken almost all hitting out over the past twenty years over lawsuits and are still far more physical than most every other sport on Earth. Rugby here is what some guys who can't make it in Football take up. no money in it here.

MLS is nowhere near as important as the national team here.

Rugby fans over here think the same about soccer with the whole 'diving' issue.

Rugby has attempted to cut back on the number of concussions aswell.....

You can no longer tackle over shoulder height and you must ensure you put your opponent back on the ground safely if you take him off his feet.

Some of the hits are brutal though.

soccer is the #1 sport for kids over here now. few injuries comparatively and almost no expense on equipment.

Yeah that's the impression I get aswell, but it does look like they're trying to improvey the MLS.

The problem we have is that as our top league is the most watched in the world, the government makes billions a year from tax on players salaries and foreign investment, that the national team becomes irrelevant, as it brings in little to no income.

From the outside in it looks to be growing.

It would be of huge benefit to the economy aswell.

In fact there's an owner from one NFL club looking to purchase Wembley stadium for £1 billion.....
The potential for foreign investment and tax on wages is huge.

the influx of Latin American immigrants has greatly increased its popularity too. i don't mind watching international games, but have absolutely no interest in MLS. around Rockford (my hometown) we are spending far more money on new soccer fields than on any other sport.

your league is on abc on sunday mornings. MLS is on ESPN at random times. i would hazard that the Premiere League is quite a bit more popular than MLS here in the States

the NFL tried to push American Football into Europe with WLAF. it was called we laugh here in the States. what did it last? ten years? i think Britain and Germany were the last countries to still have teams. as far as i know, only Canada and perhaps Mexico give a damn about American Football.
