Winner gets to fight Joshua. Both of them are come-forward fighters without a lot of head movement. Can the bigger Miller use his size and workrate to beat the older Povetkin?
Interesting fight. I would favor Povetkin here but not by a big margin. 60/40 Povetkin probably. But would be tough for Povetkin to win a decision in the US i think. And Miller won't fight in Russia. But i think AJ vs Povetkin in the UK or AJ vs Miller in the US is more realistic.
Povetkin no doubt. He's got pin point punching and a good whallop. He's not easy to land clean on either, still less by a lunk like Miller. Duhaupas gave Miller a competitive fight. He barely landed a decent shot on Povetkin and got sparked. Miller managed to TKO the worst version of Wach I've ever seen. Rumour has it Sea World sent a truck to fetch him back to the aquarium when they saw him on TV. Povetkin stopped a version of Wach that still had something left in the tank.
Miller is very underrated IMO.. too slick for HWs, coupled with his mental game which I think is very strong. Id have him as a favorite in any HW fight.. inclduing AJ. I know im in the minority on that, but just my two cents. Ill take all your money on that bet
Miller wins the first few rounds then Povetkin comes in laying the hammer on his face repeatedly with explosive hooks that Miller would eat like a cheeseburger.
Povetkin maybe past his best days but his superior power and technique would see him overcome Miller. Miller's work rate and size may see him have some success but eventually he'll take too many shots to land his own. A swarmer like Miller vs a puncher like Povetkin doesn't bode well for Miller unless he has a chin that will allow him to keep coming forward eating shots all night long.
Can’t let Povetkin fire away as he will hurt you,Miller for all his bulk hits like a Welterweight it would seem, the same problem Hugie Fury found himself in against Parker.
Povetkin of a few years ago would've had no trouble. Miller doesn't appear to hit hard enough and is extremely hittable himself. Current Povetkin could lose to anyone, one of these days.
Miller seems like he has a good chin and a decent gas tank...which I think bodes badly for him in this matchup. He does get hit a fair bit and Povetkin can obviously bang. I suspect that fight goes all 12 rounds, dominated by Povetkin, and we later look back on it as a life changing beating for Miller.
I'd give Miller an outside chance with Joshua, wouldn't call it an impossible feat but outright favoring him is pretty bold.
As for Povetkin, my leaning is Sasha by KO. He's on a whole different planet from Duhaupas in skill, timing, speed and power.
