This content is protected Skip to 1:30 to hear review of Jacobs last fight, he was really good and he gave GGG a good fight too, I don`t know why people don`t rate him higher, can anyone tell me? It was the same with a fantastic fighter like Ward, all people go on about is low blows, don`t you find this odd?
No worries bud! Nothing personally obviously. 95% of the time I'd be more interested in discussing modern day stuff with the classic, they've helped shape my knowledge of boxing far more than the petty **** that goes down in the general, minus a few exceptions, so it's a massive shame we can't whack threads about today's landscape in the classic, but it is what it is. My mum passed away when I was just 12 with cancer, so for him to come back from what he's been through is a massive inspiration for me so I'll always follow his progress and root for him until the day he retires and wish him nothing but the best! If anything it seems to have made him stronger! As a fighter he's in that very good bracket at the moment, a few more names on his resume he could be held as a great in the future, he's got excellent boxing skills and is obviously a very hard hitter. Apart from his excellent showing against GGG, his win over Turax has gained stock after seeing what Turax did against Degale in their two closely fought matches and he has a two wins over Mora who is a tricky customer, albeit his first one being more impressive as he was still developing as a fighter at that time and in his own words 'took a step back' when he fought him in the rematch. His win over Quillin was very unexpected, well atleast in the fashion that he won in, I really didn't see it coming and had Quillin as a slight favourite going in. It would be cool if he could get the GGG rematch, although I think he'd lose in more convincing fashion this time, it's also a shame Pirog retired after just 20 odd fights, I'm sure a rematch would have taken place by now had he still been fighting.
Used t be a little bit I think.. After he fought a good fight against GGG although he lost he earned a lot more respect...
Can't say I bother paying to much attention to the rings rankings these days, but Pound for pound he probably deserves to be ranked around the top 10. Not as high as GGG Lomachenko, but not far off.
I will say that I do think I underatted him a bit. I still dont think hes elite, but hes got decent skills when hes focused on showing it and he carries some nice power, and hes very determined. Again... imo hes not elite, and honestly I think its debatable that hes even a true first tier fighter, but hes better than I thought and I hope he keeps improving. I look forward to seeing him against G, BJS, Canelo, or Charlo in the near future to see more of how he does against top competition.
The fact that if you shrunk everyone down to the same size and weight he would hold his own against just about anyone. If you want to name me 15 fighters that you'd rate above him go ahead
Crawford, Canelo, Lomachenko, Mikey Garcia, Inoue, GGG, Joshua, Kovalev, Rung, Gassiv, Usyk, Thurman, Jack, Nietas, lineras, Santa Cruz, Frampton, Spence.... I can easily name 10 more but you get the point. I’ve never seen a more overrated guy after a loss in my life, it’s honestly hilarious.
I could easily name 20 more, but how many of these have faced stiffer competition? Better yet, how many of these fighters have fought a legit top 3 pound for pound fighter and held there own?
Very underrated before he fought Golovkin. Not sure why people felt he was a hypejob getting by via promoters' backing. Honestly showed some people have a bias or can't evaluate skills that well. I feel he mostly got his dues after though; either in praise or in silencing the vocal majority.
