Prime Pacquiao vs Current Lomachenko @ 135 lbs

Hell no. Lomachenko ain't cut from cowardly cloth. Lomachenko would press the action (at his peril).

 

Prime Pac was flawed technically but is a bad stylistic matchup for Loma.

 

So hard to say, usually a fight between two southpaws can be awkward, but thats not the case here.

One thing about these two guys that's quite unique...two southpaws who both look great against other southpaws (see any of young pacquiaos fights against lefties and Rigondeux fights respectively). They've both said they prefer a southpaw and it's easy to believe as they've both proven it.

Lomachenko is probably smart enough to make Pacquaio lead.....and Pacman cannot cut off a ring.

 

Pacquiao's style of being an in-and-out ambush fighter doesn't require him to cut off the ring. While I agree that it's a facet he could have worked on, cutting off the ring as a full-time tool would actually hinder is ability to be disruptive w/ his timing and awkwardness. Basically, if he was a focused ring-cutter, he wouldn't have been nearly as successful in his career.

 

No man, he couldnt cut off the ring to save his life. There's no in-and-out when you're opponent is fighting off the back foot and stepping away. Everyone besides Marquez either came to him or at least fought in the center of the ring.

Pacquiao's game was to constantly turn his opponent and dart in on angles to atttack. You can turn a fighter who's stepping back..

 

Pac hurts Loma. Loma does not have the power to trade with pac and pacs foot speed was too good to allow Loma to constantly slip under and turn him. Loma is great, but you're talking an atg offense who wouldn't respect your punches at all.
When Loma gets in with Garcia, you will see what a bigger guy who can hurt you at anytime will do with your skills when he isn't afraid of being hurt.

Is this serious? Of course Lomachenko toys with him. Pac doesn’t have the skills, always fought in a telegraphed rhythm. He’s a great but he got by on his athleticism, that’s no problem for a cerebral fighter like Lomachenko. What is prime Pac, the guy who lost to Morales and Márquez?
