    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/comba...re-fights-this-year-as-he-eyes-comeback-trail

"I want to fight in July or August and again at the end of the year," Parker told Talamua Media in Samoa where he is taking a short break.

Parker believes the level of opponents must be good enough to help his rankings improve and get him back to mandatory challenging positions. Parker has been ranked No 5 by both the WBC and WBO in the aftermath to his loss.

"We want to get back as fast as we can and we don't want to fight anyone who isn't in the top five or top 10," Parker, whose record is 24-1, said.

Ideally Parker will return to Britain to cash in on his respected status there. But a fight in New Zealand could also be an option.

    So, what's realistic here?

    - He wants to fight a Top 5/10 opponent...

    - ...in the UK or in New Zealand.

Considering the WBC/WBO ranking Parker is ranked #5 right now.

If we take a look at the rankings there are some possible opponents like
    - Luis Ortiz (ranked #4 WBC)
    - Kubrat Pulev (ranked #6 WBC)
    - Charles Martin (ranked #9 WBC)
    - Zhilei Zhang (ranked #9 WBO)
    - Agit Kabayel (ranked #10 WBO)
    - Kyotaro Fujimoto (ranked #7 WBO) / fights next week vs Aaron Russell
    - Tom Schwarz (ranked #6 WBO)

Ortiz, Pulev, Kabayel or Schwarz would be ideal to fight in the UK i think.
Zhang and Fujimoto possible for an event held in New Zealand.

I rule out Whyte, Breazeale, Povetkin, Bellew, Duhaupas, Kownacki, Miller and Jennings for obvious reasons.

Most of them are not available or not interested (Breazeale, Povetkin, Bellew, Duhaupas, Miller), the rest would not fight outside the US (Kownacki, Jennings).

Ortiz and Pulev are possible opponents for Whyte. Martin quite inactive for a while.

I think Zhilei Zhang is a realistic opponent next. He is a soft opponent but still one with solid ranking and undefeated record. Maybe Fujimoto also if he wins next week. They can built up a solid event in New Zealand.

The moment we judge a fighter on how 'boring' they are is the second the art of boxing becomes irrelevant in the sport.

Tall guy v Short guy is always boring if the tall guy is able to control the range, without taking risks, for 12 rounds.

I scored his fight with Joshua a draw so... I rank Parker over Wilder still. The last thing Parker needs to do is go back to the drawing board. At the moment, he is without question an elite HW to me.

There’s the art of boxing and then there is what Parker did. I’m a fan of Rigo and Ward.
What Parker did was look to avoid a fight, he wasn’t even trying to damage Joshua. Parker was a boring disgrace. I find brawlers boring as well. You need a balance, that is the art of boxing. Parker never followed anything up, didn’t throw enough and looked to avoid more than to attack. It was a terrible performance. The art is hit and don’t get hit, not pretend to hit them, duck and dodge for 12 rounds while being a nice guy. Parker had no fire or fight in him, he wasn’t even upset he lost the fight after that half assed performance.

He should cash in on big fights against Zhilei and Fujimoto first and then jump back into the deep end.

I laughed when you said 'I'm a fan of Rigo.......'

I'd take a boring fighter over a quitter.

He should go smash "Big Daddy" into retirement with a bit of a payday for him...

At least Rigo tried before he quit, Parker quit before he tried.

I love Joshua fans trying to push that Parker was dominated or fought to survive or quit in the ring.

Video evidence will exist forever. You aren't changing or crafting anyone's opinion. Sorry guys.

The fight was razor close. If you think one guy did significantly better than the other, you are a fool. And probably conveniently a true fanboy for the guy you scored it that way for.

I had Joshua winning comfortably, but I’d agree that Parker is elite among this current crop. What this does though is make it difficult for him to land a decent fight, as most seem to be chasing a shot at Joshua, and they’ll know facing Parker is likely to put a spanner in the works.

    Needs a new trainer.

Then needs to fight a few jobbers to climb back up the rankings so he can get another shot at AJ but this time with a neutral ref who will allow him to fight on the inside. If that were to happen there is no reason why he couldn't beat AJ.

Had he been allowed to let his shots go, we'd be talking about the new unified champion right now.
