I actually think this will be a competitive fight no matter what shape Haye is in or how Hayes body holds up.... we will see tho I guess. I suppose I shouldnt underestimate just how badly Haye might have overlooked Bellew in the first fight along with his ill fated injury, but still.... from what I saw in there I think this should be a competitive scrap regardless of Hayes condition come fight night. Still... hard seeing Haye not edging it. Looking forward to this fight.
I am actually a Haye fan, but I do find it interesting how injury prone he is compared to other fighters.
Can' find the vids now bit back in the days when Haye used to train with booth some of his pad work was brilliant to watch His body is failing him. He' like an elite sprinter or footballer they are very explosive but don' last much last 30 without everything falling apart before retirement . Haye wants a payday Bellew who isn't physically gifted in that way his body can hold it's limited resources more
Exactly. No matter what the detractors say, calling it a con etc. Just from a pure fight perspective, looking at the styles in the ring and the story from the last fight. It’s unmissable if you are a fight fan. I think a big factor is the fact that he added a lot of muscle to his frame over the years. Muscles can get bigger and stronger but your natural frame will struggle to accommodate it over time. Add to that the brutality of fighting and the intensity of training camps - his joints, tendons, ligaments etc must be totally knackered.
If I did so not only would it be the first time I will have ever banned myself but it would also be the first time I've been wrong about something. That's way too much for my brain to process right now lol
Achilles injuries like that never fully heal in sedentary slobs who work behind a desk and walk the dog 3 times a week, let alone professional athletes with intense, leg heavy training regimes, whose MO has always been to leap around the ring with explosive, anaerobic power. FWIW, the achilles tendon has a poor blood supply and is notoriously hard to treat successfully. Even if "stitched up", the tendon will not have the same range of movement and will not have the same properties and strength as before. Also, upon rewatching the first fight, he didn't throw his straight right much at all compared to previous, it was mainly leaping, looping left hooks with the odd fast right cross until he settled down pre-injury rounds and started to actually jab and box, which is where he caught Bellew most. Makes me wonder about the status of his shoulder as well. The twitter video looks OK on first glance but if you re-watch sans funk music and focus on Haye's footwork, he's not on his toes for 80% of it and looks slow relatively speaking. I say he is still carrying that injury to a large degree and has just learned to train around it i.e. keeping his heels down. Don't forget he could be getting cortico-steroid injections in the tendon to alleviate the pain. For a few mill, most would. I say after studying the first fight, Team Haye will be focusing on boxing from the off, no jumping left hooks without proper set-up, jab and box which I think Haye will have had to consciously train himself to do as his entire career has been about looking for an eventually landing those bombs. The big question is whether a "boxing" as opposed to "headhunting hooker" Haye can beat Belllew which I think he can, but I see his injuries kicking back in unfortunately.
IMO Haye should box on the back foot. It could lead to a stinking fight but in the first fight he was landing the jab to the body with ease once he realised the haymakers were way off. Haye should box smart, expending little energy and stealing rounds with the jab and straight rights. Build a lead and force a tired Bellew to come looking for a power punch late on. Bellew gasses so hard, he totally gassed in the first fight too.
I never really found this fight interesting and still dont, despite Bellew winning the first fight. because it is a case of a fit Haye winning fairly easy, or Haye losing due to his body breaking down. I dont rate Bellew as a fighter, he is only able to milk this situation because Haye is breaking down. but I give Tony a lot of credit for how he is able to hype himself, if nothing else he is a big personality and is hard to ignore.
Bellew spilling the beans on what happened when David Price and him sparred David Haye many moons ago. He said that Pricey cracked Haye so hard with his savage right hand he made him do a complete 360 followed by a funny dance. Don't forget that Pricey sparked AJ flat on his face with his big right hand in the gym, whereas he couldn't even put Haye over despite catching him flush with what I strongly suspect was an even better one. At the 17:00 minute mark of the interview I just posted Bellew says: ''You have to ask yourself how Haye has managed to 'recover' from all those ^^^^ injuries'' or rather how he's still able to continue with his career when in reality some of them should've been career ending injuries. He's implying that Haye must've have been taking those things Roid Jones was jacking himself silly with all throughout his prime years.
Bellew is nothing more than a blob of marmite on a dog turd, but Haye will break/rupture/sprain/strain/pull/cut or herniate something or other once again, allowing the bellend to come away with another false confidence building victory.
I don't like Bellew, if Haye is his old self, he will knock Bellew out, if he does not knock Bellew out, he should retire..............
